Would love to end their season two years in a row in front of their home crowd. Most importantly, we really need this game.

Can't help wondering how Junior Gallette would have helped those 3rd down figures.

He could have helped but it is not as if they don't have other playmakers on D. Just blitz, blitz & blitz again. If you get burned for a TD now & then - so what - they are giving up TDs anyhow - they just take a bit longer. If they continue w/ this same approach & miss out on the playoffs then Barry definitely has to go.

I'm not excusing Barry, as I said I have no idea if he sucks or is OK. I'm just commenting on how things may be a bit different next year. I know despite the sack totals this team has a problem getting to the QB on a regular basis and that's huge on 3rd down obviously

They have had some success when they blitz - to include the last game - & then they just stop doing it. Why not try? How much worse can it get? What am I missing?

very little success with the blitz , look we need 4 new players on our front 7 and 2 new ones at safety , not counting depth

So you are basically stating that coaching doesn't matter or it only matters on a really good team. It is only about talent. I am having a hard time buying that & at least thinking that they could be somewhat better with the current roster.

Joe Barry: I’m not doing a good enough job

Even Barry admitted earlier in the season that he wasn't doing a good job.

Skinsdad - you didn't mention CB in your list of needs & I assume that Smith is not one of the 4 players you are referencing on the front 7. If so - what the hell has happened to Smith and Breeland - both appear to have regressed quite a bit. Is coaching not at least somewhat to blame in this area (not to mention having Breeland be the primary coverage on Brown in the opener).

BTW Skinsdad - not disagreeing about needing influx of talent in the areas that you mention. However -they might also need to find a new defensive coaching staff. What has Barry done in DC or anywhere else that can be used as a strong case to retain him? Stating that we need to wait until he has more talent to evaluate him is not a good argument IMO. Continuity in coaching also should not matter if the defense has played poorly thus far.

barry has developed TM , got us to compete with slow ass foster and compton , dunbar has done well by us cravens is developing nicely . smith and breeland are having down years as all players do and face it the safety position is a hot mess

we lack speed and strength on defense to consistently execute the defenses or calls that you guys want to run consistently

now sure barry isnt the best thing since sliced bread however more talent should be involved before we can him

what he had in detroit wasnt any good either

What he has now is better than what the last DC we ran out of town had. What he has is an offense that is averaging 24 points per game. We fired what many called one of the worst Defensive Coordinators ever.. only to hire THE Worst defensive coordinator EVER!!

I can buy some of that & I forgot to mention Murphy who certainly has improved. However - I think that it is a stretch to mention Foster and Compton. Sure they have had some moments, but they have also just been downright dreadful at times. IMO Cravens would do well regardless of the system & he is a rookie so I really don't believe that Barry has much to do with his development.

Again - sounds like you are using the "give him more talent" argument & giving Barry a free pass. Why in the world can't they fire him? What exactly would they be losing? As someone else mentioned previously if by some chance Bowles was fired by the Jets would you at least not consider hiring him?
