For those that think this is Watson's fault.
View attachment 264069
Should have thought of that, before signing his mega deal. You cant have both!

If he was being franchised tagged I could be on his side about this.
but he isnt. he sold his soul for the quick cash! This is all on him.

I think he definitely wants out, that much is def true

how far he is willing to go to get out is the part that’s cloudy. Will he refuse to report? Will he risk millions to make his stand?
I believe that right now he is taking the smart approach.
Let others do the talking and you have plausible deniability.....

The Texans making the worst coaching hire in the history of this league, probably isn’t gonna help

For all you guys that think Watson has no leverage your flat out wrong. For those who think he is a jerk for not honoring his contract I get it. Let’s look at the alleged facts. 1 it has been said Cal McNair told Watson at a dinner he invited Watson 2 that he would have a voice in the new GM and Coach.
2 new GM is hired and new coach is hired with no consulting with Watson.
Now more is speculated behind the scenes that “soured” the relationship.
It will cost Watson big dollars to holdout that are not forgiven like the last CBA. However that does not prevent him from doing so if he is that determined not to stay in Houston. That is the part that is important because it comes down to a matter of willpower in the end of which side is willing to commit to going all out to get what they want. IF Watson decides he won’t play for the Texans they really don’t have a choice but to trade him or let a asset “rust” away they could get picks or players for to rebuild the team . Now conversely Watson must be in the mindset this will cost him mega $$$ but the relationship is so broken he will never trust management again and he is done with football if Houston holds firm to not trading him.
we don’t know Watsons side as he has remained quiet except for the trade request weeks ago.
Right now it’s all speculation but it is not as 1 sided as many seem
To think. A price is paid to get what you want if you think you have been wronged the question is are you willing to pay ? Only Watson and the Ownership of the Texans really know how much they will pay.

I'm somewhat on Watson's side in this. It sounds like things have really gone sideways in Houston since he signed the contract. That's not his fault.

Having said that, he could just play out the contract he signed and leave after that. He will still be young.

NFL should blackball Watson from the league.
That would be racist and insensitive to the African American community by placing this kind of restriction on a man of color, especially in a league that rewards teams draft picks for hiring a minority. Besides, you can't use the word blackballed when referencing an African American. Pretty sure that is a ban able offense. WOKE up man! hahaha

If it was made up Watson would've already had a presser . He definitely wants out . Doesn't mean he will get his wish though
If he's willing to sit out, he'll get traded. What good does it do for Houston to shoot themselves in the foot? If he retires, refuses to report, whatever, they are in worse condition than if they traded him. They don't have a 1st or 2nd round pick currently.

Trade him to Miami for 2 2021 firsts, Tua, and another pick next year. They could even sign Fitz to caddy for Tua if they want. Use the #3 pick (Houston traded this to Miami for LT Tunsil) on WR (Chase, Smith) or OL (Sewell), then use the #18 on CB (Surtain, Horn, Farley), RB (Harris, Etienne) or OL (Darrishaw, Vera-Tucker), LB (Parsons, Owusu-Koramoah, Bolton), or maybe a DT or edge rusher to help replace Watt if he leaves too (Barmore, Ojulari, Phillips) or whatever they deem to be their biggest weaknesses.

I wish that media was held more accountable for this sort of BS... Fabricated reporting should doom this man's show, and the countless others that have done the same. But sadly all the networks care about is that this sort of negative publicity is still driving clicks regardless of whether its true or not.

Mark Madden, an over-glorified shock jock in the PA area, tried to make up some BS about TJ Watt skipping his exit interview because he was disgruntled.... TJ Watt quote-tweeted (directly replied) his report and said it was complete BS.

This sort of shock-jock reporting is getting worse & worse every year. And the casuals are eating it up.
They can pretty much make it up as they go...especially when they use the old "unnamed sources". No accountability. and, yes, a large portion of fans eat it up.

You might think Watson has little leverage but as far as the Texans moving forward, in a way he does have plenty of leverage.

Lets say the rumors are exactly true and he demands a trade:

The highest trade value is right now, before the draft and FA, for the Texans. The longer they wait, the more teams think too much and they spend what they have, especially this season with the lower cap. Then we start getting to preseason and the beginning of the season and the trade value drops dramatically, even moreso bc teams are skeptical about trading for a guy like Watson sitting out a season. So in a way, Watson doesn’t have leverage but he does from a trade value standpoint.

If rumors are true, the Texans would be wise to getting max value (their max value) for Watson in the next couple months and moving on.
This is true, but if they decide they don't want to move him - or don't get what they want - what's he gonna do? Retire?

the whole thing is silly. letting go of a 25 year old franchise qb is the exact opposite of rebuilding. if he goes anywhere then ownership should forced to sell the team before the fans riot and burn the stadium to the ground.

If management doesn't want Watson's opinion on the GM and head coaching search....they shouldn't have told him they did.

This is on the FO. Not to mention after the clusterfuck trade of Hopkins and most players siding with Watson about this.

He very well could sit out and that would make the Texans FO look silly for not trading him.

I dont agree. If Watson sits out. Not only do the Texans not have to pay him, but they will get their cap money back.
he is already not gonna be on the field so that wouldnt change. So why just trade him because he wants them too.
Houston should only trade him if the trade is in the texans advantage.

otherwise. Let him rust!

it is insane to think the QB should have any say in the GM.

How does that question go?
So Mr. Qb. Who do you want to have as a Gm to be a yes man to you? So we can be more successful.
Also no. the team hasnt done any wrong, if that isnt in the contract.
Entitlement is an ugly thing, & he isnt entitled to make those decisions.

OK. If he sits out the year doesn't get him any closer to being able to leave, and that's a lot of money he never gets back.
