NEW YORK -- In a euphoric atmosphere at Citi Field after the New York Mets completed a sweep of the Washington Nationals to pull into a virtual tie for first place on Sunday, even Mr. Met was in a celebratory mood.
As the iconic mascot offered fist pounds to passersby in the bowels of the stadium, a balding middle-aged gentleman apparently passed by. And Mr. Met offered to fist pound with him too.
The man good-naturedly declined, then chuckled as he walked away, according to Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post.
Who was it?
Nats GM Mike Rizzo.
"To clarify, I don't think Mr. Met knew who Rizzo was," Janes tweeted.
