I think this was a good hire by the Rangers. I never liked Tortorella's approach on how he handled offensive minded players & young players. Most of all, I felt he created a media sideshow which was completely unnecessary. I think he did a good job with the team a couple years ago, but his act got tired.
With Alain Vigneault, I expect the Rangers to have a more balanced approach. I see him being far more professional when it comes to his interactions with players as well as the media. I won't make any predictions on how he does in his first season with the Rangers, but I think it will be good for a lot of players like Stepan, Hagelin, Kreider, Miller, Del Zotto etc in the long term.
Most importantly, I think the Rangers will be a more fun team to watch and won't play so much in their own zone. Should be a well needed change for the team.
