Vasilevskii with two ii's signed an entry level contract today. This means Lindy is gone and Vas will most likely be Bens backup.

I think this was the right move. Vasilevski & Bishop should both compete for being the Lightning's goalie of the future. Everyone else should be trade bait. No point in being 4 deep in goaltending unless you're going to make some trades.

Agreed, despite his talent he's yet to play a game in North America. I'd consider Gudlevskis ahead of him on the depth chart.

It's a two-way deal as it his a entry level contract. The reason why Yzerman wanted to sign is because he's that good but we know Yzerman doesn't rush his prospects and we all know goalies need that extra time to develop.

yes goalies need starts period wonder whats wong with lindback ? well he sat on the bench behind rinne instead he should have been starting in the ahl. also to copy danny! Yzerman doesn't rush his prospects! we all know he likes his prospects in the ahl for two years.

KHL is better than the AHL but that doesn't mean anything, Yzerman will not rush his prospects. Gudlevskis is a ahead of Vasilevskiy on the depth chart. I think Lindy is a gonna, Gudlevskis will backup Bish, if Gudlevskis struggles they have Desjardins as short term insurance or they could give Vasilevskiy a taste at this level but for the most part I expect Gudlevskis to backup up Bish next year.

A bit of history. Ken Dryden played two years of college hockey then 33 AHL games before he joined the Habs , played parts of two seasons then 7 full seasons winning the Vezina trophy 5 times. An exceptional goalie he retired at age 30 ?. Just saying if you're very good you don't spend much time in the minors.

Yzerman probably said you have a chance to make the team next year out of camp but I Gudlevskis will have the driver seat. He's more experienced, he's played in the AHL, he played in the Olympics, he's played a few games here and has looked impressive plus he's playing IIHF World Championships just to add even more experience under his belt.
