Wow, actually not as big as I was thinking. Thought for sure low end would be $35 a year.

They gave him more years to lower the yearly salary.

Yeah but the Mariners could gone higher on the yearly salary instead of years. Like the problem with them and Wong. You can’t offer less years if the money is the same.

He wanted east coast. He is from Florida and his wife from Jersey per reports. Plus he wanted to play with Harper again. They were never in on this one. Baegarts is their best option and that is 1%.

I don’t necessarily disagree, I was making a wider point that got tossed in with my frustration.

No I got that. You know as well as I do that the M's don't want to pay long term nor do they want to pay a higher yearly average. They just don't want to pay anything and won't need to because they have their mediocre team that will keep fans happy for the next few years. Winning is just a bonus.

Nailed it

The Felix - Cano' big contract debacles are still fresh in their memory and they are always going to have a Champaign taste on a beer budget moving forward because of it.

And yet neither contract hurt them. They still made plenty of profit and the franchise value went up in the tens or hundreds of millions. Cheap ass bastards.
