Needs: One top nine forward, depth forwards, one top four defenceman, backup goaltender.

i wish they opened with that and i would've stopped reading.

a top 9 forward? try a top 3 forward! another defenseman? let alone a top 4? this team has 9 d men on this roster! why even waste cap and energy on a backup goalie? give it to kinkaid already see what he can do in 15-20 games. dont throw him out there against the top teams in the nhl put him out against the panthers and nashville etc.

i will say i was amazed to see this team ranked 28th and then 23rd in the nhl sv%. damn marty really took those stats down!

possible players to bring in on defense boyle stralman? are you nuts!

i'm fine with this team doing a "rebuild" if thats what they are going to try and actually do. dont give me these patch fixes only to get blasted in the 1st round. this team would be in so much better shape if they moved zid/jagr and anyone else at the deadline.

Agreed. Last thing we want is a Boyle who will be 38 this summer at 6 million plus.
Stralman?

The stats mentioned in the article did surprise me however.

also depth forwards? i forgot it mentioned that.

the last thing this team needs is depth forwards. thats all this team is 3rd line role players!

one thing this team should have taught everyone this season is you have to be really really really really really bad to miss the playoffs. we didn't win a single shootout and still missed by 5 points. the longest winning streak this year was 3 games. we did that ONE TIME! and yet only missed out by 5 points. this team will be "in it" again to make the playoffs. what awaits them is a 1st round KO.

shed the dead weight on d. shed any dead weight anyone is willing to take on the forwards. i'm even willing to resign marty for 1 year so he can get 700 wins here. just let him know he aint starting more then 20 games to get them.

not expecting a big summer from this team and will be very very sad if they just keep adding and not subtracting from it.

hell i will even go out and say i bet they dont even get cory inked this summer. so we will be starting the season with that contract drama over the team

TSN, The Hockey News, can't really trust any of them when it comes to Devils coverage.

Re-sign Cory, buyout Clowe, let every UFA walk are all musts in my opinion.

Can't trust any media source when it comes to the Devils for that matter, especially with off season moves.

According to this guy, the off season plan is to add Boyle and Stralman, plus a 4th liner and the cup is ours lol.

If you review the top free agents, offensively, besides Vanek, nobody really interests me that much where I feel the team should overpay. Agree with NM. Resign Cory and dump some guys. Not sure this is the summer to make any type of splash.

:agree: that was basically a review of the Devils' 2013-14 season, no plan for anything.

I could see a lot of teams tanking for McDavid next season.

IMO, Next season's goals:

Make Cory a #1 goalie. He's about to get a huge contract and has never actually been a #1 goalie. All we know about him is that he's good when playing in a tandem with a vet.

Open up 3 spots to fit in rookie Defensemen. Urbom, Merrill, Gelinas, Larsson, whoever else. Don't care who makes it as long as they are more deserving than other rookies.

I don't want to see another useless, wasted fucking year. If you're going to be a bad team, atleast have a purpose with it. They're not going to have any success in the playoffs for the next several years anyways since teams never go far with a lot of young Defense. Just look at Boston this year, The Caps in their strongest years, and so forth.

CapGeek Armchair GM Roster

SALARY CAP: $71,100,000; CAP PAYROLL: $65,834,584; BONUSES: $2,060,000
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $5,265,416

Below Key Info:

-Resign Fayne, Zids and buyout Volch. This doesn't let a 27 year old dman walk in Fayne, and means Peter Harold is the 8th dman. Larsson, Merrill, Gelinas all fit in the top 7.

- Signed Cammalleri. He's making $6M on his current deal. This would hopefully be a short term deal, leaving the Devils some flexibility. You can sub in another bunch of forwards into this slot depending on what you want to commit in terms of $ and years. Vanek, Gaborik (can't believe I'm even suggesting him), etc. Maybe a Stastny?

Is Cammalleri even good anymore?

He seems like a worse Ryder.

If you look at Goals/Game over the past 3 seasons, Camm is a bit ahead of Ryder and right in the middle of Hatrnell, Giroux, Franzen, Simmmonds, JVR.

He scored 26 last year on an atrocious Calgary team.

If we really want to get a huge impact on offense, we prob need to chase Vanek with Camm, Moulson, Gaborik as backups.

noway on camaleri and noway you bring back harrold. unfortunately you can't bring fayne back either.

larrson merril gelinas each need a spot on this lineup daily. buyout a train thats one spot. fayne walks thats another spot. zidlicky has more upside offensive and trade value wise then fayne does. unless you can find a way to get salvador off the team you have to let fayne or zid walk.

camaleri is just another retread of ryder and clowe. this team doesn't need to tie up another roster spot with that type of player and his age. if there was an open spot for camaleri ruutu took it up at the deadline

Over/Under next season:

Wins: +/- 35
Shootout Losses: +/- 10

They had 35 and 13 respectively last year.

I'm picking under on wins (32) and push on SO losses (10). Team gets worse and DeBoer finally learns that shootouts are bad and attempts to avoid them.
