Very solid game. He creates openings and has the football instincts that rak never has had. He is a keeper.

Did you guys really think he played well? I saw him string out one running play and of course the tipped pass but other than that I was watching and he seemed to be getting clogged up a lot. I'll have to watch again with an eye on Murphy and Compton.

I really didn't see him as much of a threat as a pass-rusher. I saw him get tied up a lot. In addition, he wasn't relentless, when he was. I still like his presence a pure LB. To me, he's more valuable as that. Eventually, I believe he could be a pass-rushing threat.

I thought he got held when romo was in the end zone and it shoulda been a safety but the whistles were put away last night if you had a star on your helmet.

Yeah after seeing that again, along with all the other missed calls, it was really amazing the Redskins won that game.

First game as a starter and he had an impact. He is a better football player than Rak. Period.

Not sure if that is true - doesn't really matter. However - if he simply does a decent job it frees up a lot of money for the Redskins to use in other badly needed areas.

I have to say he played a solid game however, he had many mistakes and gave up on a few plays. A couple plays in particular in which he did NOT pursue the football at 100% effort down field. Having said that, I mentioned after the game (we attended) to my Son, did you notice who didn't play tonight? Didn't miss that guy at all really expect to complain about holds that didn't get called.

I am guessing your son will get over Rak quick. After his first start we can see Murphy is :

1: A do your job guy, who does not give up the edge and get fooled very often.
2: An opportunistic player who might be seen as not going 100 percent at times but seems to be around the ball a lot.
3: A player who reads the eyes of the qb and has the potential to swap a few and snag one or two.
4: A versatile player who can be moved up and down the line. I'm sure we will see more and more of this.

We know he needs to improve his edge rush, and I'm sure he will. I did not see the lack of effort that you saw, but he has been labelled a junk yard dog type, so I doubt that effort will be an issue.

All I can go on is what I saw last year when I went to the PAC-12 title game in AZ.
Murphy was a stud that game and huge for a LB, he moved well laterally and seemed to not tire out against the Sun devils hurry up offense, I know the pros are different and heard about Gruden calling him dumb but the guy went to Stanford and I hope he's a keeper.
