My top 5, and then all the other movies released in 2017 that I've seen (in order)

1. Wind River: 5/5 stars
2. The Shape of Water: 4.5/5 stars
3. Split: 4/5 stars
4. Dunkirk: 4/5 stars
5. Get Out: 4/5 stars

6. Baby Driver: 3.5/5 stars
7. Blade Runner 2049: 3/5 stars

I can't believe I've only seen 7 movies from 2017 so far. Still a lot left to see. It seemed like it was slow early on, but a lot of good looking films were released in the last 3 months of the year. Also, I have yet to see a 2017 movie and give it a negative review:susp:

I think is a full listing of the 2017 movies I have seen...

Dunkirk
Wonder Woman
Logan

Get Out
1922
Bright
TLJ
Gerald’s Game

GotG2
Spider-Man
John Wick 2
Thor
iBoy
Mudbound

Kong
Meyerowitz Stories
Everything Everything
Naked
Sandy Wexler

Typically, the critically good movies are not released until late December or January, so I probably won’t see the “good” ones for a few more months (3 Billboards, Shape of Water). Pretty crappy year for movies...

5. Coco
4. Dunkirk
3. Three Billboards
2. Get Out
1. Blade Runner 2049

Three Billboards will probably be the favorite for best picture with its Golden Globes best drama win tonight, along with best screenplay, actress and supporting actor. I haven't seen any of the other likely contenders, but it was excellent as were Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell in their roles.

The fact you listed the Last Jedi and Beauty and the Beast makes me want to ignore you.

You're definitely on a different level when it comes to Star Wars. For me, the Last Jedi is like Logan. Its a good movie that totally blows up its universe. You also liked Star Wars Battlefront 2 which is routinely on Critics Worst 10 games of 2017 so I'm guessing you really like Star Wars. Most SW movies in my lifetime have been pretty awful so I don't really have it on the same pedestal.

I think @Smart is the only person on here that actually watches enough movies to have an opinion that matches critics. I'm married so every movie I watch has to go through the 'does the wife also want to watch this' filter so it narrows down the list. When I have my own time, I usually spend it on Sports or Video Games. The wife usually doesn't have much interest in things like Mizzou's inability to close out basketball games or why I'm playing Nier Automata 3 times to get a real ending.

Golden globes and oscars vary a lot

I think the two actors win the awards at the oscars again but not sure the the movie itself gets the wins

I loved it tho.

So now that we're at the end of the year, what do you have as your favorites?

1. Dunkirk
2. The Last Jedi
3. Logan Lucky
4. Darkest Hour
5. Beauty and the Beast

HM: Wonder Woman, Logan

Personally, I was not impressed by too many this year. But considering all round, I was most entertained and/or impressed and left relatively satisfied with... (Granted, I didn't see a crazy amount this year... but that was also due to the fact that they didn't really seem to interest me)

It
Thro: Ragnarok
Get Out

then idk... probably Three Billboards and then whatever.

Wind River was by far my favorite movie of 2017. Liked it so much I went straight out and bought a Marlin 1895SBL 45-70 Gov't. Perfect protection for when I'm fly fishing in bear country.

Get Out, The Lost City of Z and Dunkrik were all pretty good as well.

I'm still getting caught up. I've had Three Billboards ready to watch for a long time and haven't gotten around to it yet. Wind River and Blade Runner are also movies I need to see. I did see Coco and thought it was overrated. My current top 5 would be:

1. Dunkirk
2. I, Tonya
3. The Last Jedi (yeah, I'm one of them)
4. Logan Lucky
5. Darkest Hour
