Perez was a question mark coming in simply b/c he hadn't done it enough and at a high enough level

Its all interpretation, if you wanted to annoint him the "real deal" after that so be it, not going to blame you, but I'm also not going to question someone who is iffy on his prospects going forward after last year and his spotty minor league career

Have zero reason to doubt Holland. He will have some bad games just like any other pitcher, but 200 innings last year says he's consistent enough for me not to have any worries.

If spring has taught us anything it's that it is not a reliable indicator of how players will perform once the season starts.

I don't think I read any actual sports writer saying that. It was a bunch of guys like Bennie from ESPN. If anything I remember reading stuff asking if he was ready to take the leap and build on last year.

Me neither, b/c most people with half a brain weren't that concerned... certainly not me, but I also held my expectations in check, have to when you've been following Perez's ups and downs as long as I have

I totally get that. Tempering expectations on prospects is key. Joey Gallo has a great year going but I'm trying to hard to expect it. I want him to be good but I don't think it will really work out to anything more than a Mark Reynolds like career.
