I planned on setting some $$ aside to upgrade when I needed new tires (plan on doing a small lift, 1-2", and getting 32x10.5's A/T's on the TJ, currently riding on 30x9.5's)...well, evidently I need an alignment, the inside of my front tires are worn down like a mother. didn't catch it until a week or so ago. With as bad as they've worn, I'm not certain they will pass inspection, which is due this month. :L

haven't got the money aside yet for my lift and bigger tires, but don't really want to settle on the same kind.

Now i'm thinking of just getting some 31x10.5's and no lift for the time being, and some time down the road i'll do that portion

It's ridiculous how expensive tires are these days. My wife's car is needing tires so I bought me a truck and gave her my Sonata that already has new tires on it. Can't believe she fell for it.

The pricing is crazy. My son has a Chevy 1500, just a simple run of the mill truck. He’s fresh out of college with his first job, but hasn’t banked a whole lot of savings yet. He told me the other day he had to buy retreads. Doh! That scared me. I told him to make sure he’s careful and doesn’t drive crazy high speeds.

I just got new tires on the Wag. and had sticker shock from the usual brand names. I ended up getting an off brand - "Nexen Roadian AT II" tires because they were way cheaper. Well, I can't believe how much quieter they are than the Goodyears that were on it before. They're totally silent now...like a whole new car.

Every time I took that thing near Goodyear the owner would do backflips trying to get me to buy new tires. The mark-up on them must be huge.

A lot of peeps put them on Wranglers: TireBuyer - Roadian AT II customer reviews - product reviews - read top consumer ratings

I had Nexens put on our Sonata and really like them so far. A dude at work recommended them.

I went to pick up a set of 40" BF Goodrich KM2 for a Blazer I'm building and I was quoted $999.98 plus tax and mounting per tire. I needed 5 tires, needles to say I bought zero, that is to much.

mine managed to pass inspection, so i'm putting it off a little longer til I can save up a bit more. really need that alignment, but I don't really see the point in doing it before I get new tires

It cost 80 bucks for an alignment. Seems like a fairly complicated and involved activity (on an old Wagoneer or any 4 wheel drive) for only 80 bucks.

I noticed I need new front tires but without any money set aside, I'll prob get a couple good used for the back and put the good back tires up front. I think I also need to have the alignment checked. The worn out front tires look more worn on the inside and I expected more wear to be on the outside from cornering.

yep, that's how mine were, basically bald on the inside. Got my tires mounted yesterday and alignment done this morning, they look awesome, ride great, now I need to save for that 2" lift!

Ended up costing me $717, but I get a $50 mail in rebate

Are you doing a suspension or body lift? If you just want the higher body and don't need ground clearance, go with the body lift. No idea what a kit costs, but I think I paid less than $100 for my F150 3" body lift kit back around '97. It's basically just 6 or so blocks, and took me and a buddy about 4 hours to install. Way cheaper than the $1000 or so it costs for a 3" suspension lift.

well, I want to do a suspension lift, but realistically, I wont be doing anything for a long time...if I were to go the body lift route, I would at most do 1"...a 3" body lift on a jeep would cause all kinds of issues and look flat out stupid, lol

You can have the leaf springs bent (more) for hardly any money and that will lift it a little. IMO you don't want to bend them to lift it more than a couple inches or it makes the ride too bouncy.

People do this?

That sounds like a terrible idea. Like on par with the Honda beater crowd who go at their springs with hacksaws.

Yeah, it's pretty common. It's called re-arching your leafs. Now though it is almost as cheap to buy new springs. Can't remember what model 757 has, but it might be quadcoil.

You prolly know this, but you must get that alignment done before installing the new tires...well at least when you get the new tires anyways.

I could do that....if TJ's had leaf springs
