Precisely the opposite. Championships are all that matter to me. If I could have had 2014 Clayton Kershaw or 2014 Madison Bumgarner on the 2006 Phillies team, I would easily have taken Kershaw. Are you insinuating that Kershaw is inferior to Bumgarner because of a couple of bad playoff games? Even in this ridiculously small sample size, it's clear that Kershaw has gotten bad luck considering his 3.11 xFIP. So, would you rather have Kershaw or Bumgarner in 2016? Just say one of the player's last name without any justification.
Kershaw CAREER playoff numbers....2-6, 4.50 ERA, it's not a small sample, he hasn't gotten it done in the post season

If there is a gun to your head, and you HAVE to win this game (and the same pressure is put on the SP)...

Who do you start? Bum or Kershaw?
Kershaw

I pick that year's Bum for sure.

If only I could put 2011 David Freese on the Cardinals every year...

Bum, no question....Omar?

You want to go with Bum. Postseason success says he proforms better under pressure. But this is not only about the postseason.

Kershaw has proven that he is the better pitcher over the long haul of the regular season.

Kershaw Bumgarner

18-6 16-9
1.92 2.90
4 Cg 3 CG
2 SHO 1 SHO
222 IP 212 IP
257 SO 217 so
.886 WHIP 1.044 WHIP
2.08 FIP 2.99 FIP
188 ERA + 123 ERA +

I hate the Hooplas lack of space when comparing stats side by side.

This is the real crux of the issue, I think.

'shaw is the more consistent, day in, day out pitcher. But when the chips are down, and you dont care about tomorrow, there is little question who you want on the hill.

An org like the Giants, who are in complete Championship or bust mode, Bum is the pitcher you go with. If you are a team that is more about putting the whole thing together, and winning the trophy is not necessarily the end all - be all, then Kershaw is the pick.

Are you still butt hurt over the spanking you took on the other thread? If that was his meaning, his numbers are jacked. Walter Johnson should have a 10-12 year run, period.
As to your other ridiculous comment about post season play.....ask ANY baseball GM if they'd rather have a great regular season pitcher who gagged in the post season, or a very good starting pitcher who was DOMINATING in the post season, and they will take the latter every time

Curt Schilling was a very good starting pitcher who was dominating in the postseason...would you care to point out when Schilling was the considered by GMs as the best pitcher in baseball?

And here we go with the qualitative, non-numerical, vague statements.
1. Kershaw is the better pitcher
2. Kershaw is the better pitcher
3. How are the Giants in a "championship or bust" mode, and how are other teams not in said mode? I'm not sure I understand. Doesn't every team want to win the World Series every year?
4. This kind of goes with 3., but can you please comment on what you mean when you said that a team is more about "putting the whole thing together"? All the vagueness and quantitativeness is confusing me.
