Rangers are for sure a better team with AV than with Torts. Never seen them score so much on such a consistent basis like they are under Torts. Personally thought Torts had them playing like a .500 team throughout his tenure. I like how AV opens things up. Certainly a more formidable team than in years past. Best thing for the Rangers is that with all the media distractions in NYC, their coach doesn't create even bigger distractions by constantly feuding with the media.

Attack, attack, attack. I love it. Don't sit back on a lead, keep pounding, keep grinding, keep forechecking. But in all honesty, what he's doing with the lines is something Torts NEVER DID. No shuffling of the lines, he's consistently rolling out the same lines and not changing things up. One of the biggest, if not the biggest reason for our success lately.

Torts would've destroyed the careers of all the young players and all offensive players if he were allowed to stay. Look what he's doing to the Sedin Bros LOL

He has learned to coach to players strengths but he doesnt welcome new players into HIS systems, which he will have to do if he wants to keep coaching in the future

You watchin' the game tonight, stealth? Pretty good one.

And this is why he didn't last here. I agree, his style of play was running out of time. This wasn't 2003 with the Lightning, this is a new era of hockey. More upbeat and faster, his system was good for the first few years here, but look at a guy like Cally who at the age of 29 is breaking down. Girardi looked like shit the first half of the season adjusting to a faster game, but has since come on.

Torts has some players in Vancouver like Kassian, Kesler, Santorelli, Richardson who fit his mold of play, but he's also forcing it on the top guys as well. And that's when it stops working.
