Now for my favorite albums, all of which are hip hop:

Eminem- Recovery
Nas- It Was Written
The Notorious B.I.G.- Life After Death
T.I.- My Life Your Entertainment
Lupe Fiasco- Food and Liquor
Now, what happens if I start listening to this and take it to the extreme?-- am I going to end up killed in a drive by while I'm sitting in my Escalade trying to open a 40?

Sorry, what was I thinking
Yeah seriously. I've got to go now. I just watched the pilot of Dexter and am fucking pissed off that there are serial killers in the world so I'm going to become a vigilante myself

I am the socially responsible one on this forum. When I reference the drugs I take, they're prescription drugs from a doctor so obviously they're perfectly safe

But back to the original point of this thread---Is this the series where it all blows up in our collective face? The Braves just got this new manager, Frenchy is starting to hit and maybe he wants to show off for some friends he made in Philly last year. This could be one of those series where the Phillies are riding high and get thrown for a loop.

I'm not saying it's definitely gonna happen. I'm just saying it would be typical Phillies to have their magical season ruined by a guy who comes from a family that is so fucked up they named their kid "Mallex"

Also check out:

Nazareth - Hair of the Dog
Steppenwolf - Greatest Hits
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Greatest Hits
Doors - Greatest Hits

Get youself edumacated son!

I got heavily into the Doors, Creedence, and some Nazareth. I recently found an album of Nazareth ballads on youtube.
McCafferty really had a fantastic voice. He stopped performing live in 2013. The first link is an earlier performance, the second from 2005 when he was 59 years old. Very educational.

I've actually never seen the whole thing but I've caught most of it at different times on TBS or USA or whatever. HBO should do a transition from boardwalk empire to Capone and then into the "Casino" era. They could probably do it better.
Layla is a great example of a song that was made better by being in a movie. I used to think that instrumental part at the end was a little long but now if I hear it on the radio I can't turn it off. Clapton is also an example of why you need to listen to a lot of these classic rock guys' early music. He did an instrumental album in the 80's or 90's that had a version of that song that sucked-and it also left out the entire instrumental part at the end. Something happens to a lot of these musicians as they get older. Believe it or not Billy Joel actually had some good music before he started marrying supermodels and became whatever the fuck he is now. The Piano Man Album is good to listen to if you're smoking some of that leafy green stuff
Layla has been a classic since it came out in the 70's. That movie did not make it more popular. It was always popular.

Awesome story going this year for the Phillies. Who doesn't love the little guy shocking the fat cats? Philly has half the team payroll of NYM and WAS and is playing just well. If they can hold on...would be one of the better stories in a long time.

Wrong forum bro. This is the 60s/70s rock and roll forum. Occasionally we get off topic when this wigger who we won't name mentions hip hop, but the main thing is we're talking about music. I'm sure there is a Phillies forum on this website though if you looked around

Yes it was, but I was talking about for me personally. I didn't appreciate the instrumental at the end as much until later, after they used it in Goodfellas. Before I watched Goodfellas 50 times I probably would have said Bell Bottom Blues was my favorite.

Wow, I didn't know they had any other ballads besides the one, which is a classic. I'll have to check that out. Also, that reminds me, if you want a good sampling of 70's music check out the Dazed and Confused soundtrack. It's a pretty impressive collection.

On a side note that reminds me,since there is a thread somewhere on best baseball names, my favorite musician name is ZZ Top Drummer-- Frank Beard

That's like if Tom Selleck was named "Joe Mustache" or something

For sure! Best part about that name is that he is the only one in the band without a beard.

Yes, very surprising. Even though it's a rebuild year, we're secretly believing we'll be 7 games above the Mets and Nats in late September. Omar missed his dose this morning.

I think it is the song that got me into Clapton. I got to see him in 1976 or thereabouts a the Sprectum during his Slowhand tour.
