I haven’t seen this movie yet, but it sounds like it is similar to Stranger Things S1, in that it was a fun, messed up situation that kinda ended on a cliffhanger that really didn’t need to be completed. Stranger Things, imho, would have worked soooo much better as an anthology series that just moved on to something else after S1. I didn’t need any further explanation of the Upsidedown.

Leave The World Behind - 5.5 / 10. Julias acting seems to have really slipped since Pretty Woman and Pelican Brief. It did keep me interested however.

Barbie on Netflix. I won't put a number on it. There were some funny bits ... Gosling and Robbie were both excellent. It started interesting and funny... then it got preachy & annoying.. then another funny bit or 2, then more preachy & annoying. It kind of went back & forth for me. Your wives, GFs & daughters will love it.

That's sort of my review. The beginning and ending parts were funny but the middle part with Barbie and Ken really wasn't. annoying, boring etc.

We watched a very old version of A Christmas Carol. Scratchy black and white. I guess it was true to the thought of the original book. It was a short film and didn't go into much character development or detail.

Poor Things. Emma Stone as a Frankenstein-like experiment. After committing suicide by jumping from a bridge, Willem Defoe transplants her unborn child's brain into her head and reanimates her. It seems to be set in the 19th century. The rest is her travels and an exercize in self-discovery, sexual and otherwise, from infant to womanhood. This movie is a trip... definitely not for everyone, but I really liked it. 9/10

The Beekeeper. Absurd January fun. Lotta violence.

Thought it would just be awful. Intstead it was enjoyable as hell for what it is. A movie littered with over the top bee puns

Good to hear. It's not the type of movie I generally go to see at a theater, buy we're going to see it today.

We decided to see A Zone of Interest instead... another best picture oscar nominee. It was a look at the Holocaust, but through the prism of the Auschwitz commandant's family life in his lovely home that's bordered by the concentration camp walls.

It isn't Schindlers List in that we don't see and it does not focus on the horrors taking place on the other side of the wall, though occasional gunshots and screaming are background music throughout along with the smoke rising from the ovens. It's "arty" and I won't give it a score, but it was very effective and I'm glad I saw it.
