McCoy didn't have any problems with it.

Browns quarterback Colt McCoy, looking comfortable running first-year Browns coach Pat Shurmur's new West Coast offense, went 9 of 10 for 135 yards while playing three series. He threw a 27-yard TD pass to Josh Cribbs, and led Cleveland on a second scoring drive, capped by Peyton Hillis' 3-yard scoring burst.

This must be the version of the WC offense where they try and gain more than 4 yards on a pass.

Yeah, I keep hearing that we only had 2 weeks to prepare. So did every other team. Detroit was ready. Cleveland has a new coach and is switching defenses, and still was ready. Only having 2 weeks is no excuse for the play. Just another sign that Marvin Lewis is a terrible coach.

Cleveland played great last night, I was especially impressed with Colt McCoy, who really did look like an NFL quarterback. Browns might be getting closer and closer to sporting a .500 team.

Yeah, I keep expecting McCoy to suck. He just doesn't seem like an NFL quality QB, but he keeps playing well.

McCoy playing well gives me some hope for Dalton. Honestly, I still dont think either guy is the answer but Colt did look good.

Not that I'm a fan of Dalton or anything, but Dalton has only been an NFL player for 2 weeks. Comparing his play to that McCoy's is foolish.

I've always compared them as I think they're pretty much the same QB. Prior to the draft I called Dalton the 'poor man's Colt McCoy' which I still think is pretty accurate. They're both lauded as being 'winners' that have questionable arm strenght and overall skill set. Seems like a pretty natural comaparison to me. That being said I'm not saying that if McCoy succeeds that Dalton will...just that it's possible for that type of QB to be effective.

Comparing the 2 players is fine. Comparing their play in Week 1 is foolish. My response wasn't to you...it was to the main premise of this thread. While circumstances are similar in that both teams have new offenses and new coaches, it should be expected that McCoy would play and look better than Dalton, who has only been in the NFL for 2 weeks.

Nonsense. MCCoy is in a new offense same as Dalton.

I told everyone last year McCoy was the real deal. That kid just knows how to win and how to lead. Arm strength isn't everything. Pennington couldn't throw a ball 35 yards and he was a damn good QB. I'm not saying Dalton will be but arm strength isn't everything, ask JaMarcus. I'd rather have accuracy than arm strength.

There's no doubting accuracy is more important than arm strength, but not having arm strength puts him behind the 8-ball. He'll have to make that much better decisions in order to be a good QB.

McCoy and Dalton both had adequate arm strength. They aren't Michael Vick but they aren't Pennington either. Dalton didn't look great in his first ever NFL game against NFL competition after 2 weeks of practice. Surprise surprise. Yes Mallet looked great, and I think will be a star, but I doubt he was playing against 1st stringers, and comon, he is in NE. Everyone looks good there.

Pennington's 'lack' of arm strength is talked about too much. Did he have a big arm? No. But he was a 1st round pick - He wasn't exactly a limp wrist..... He just got hurt a bunch which cost him some zip.

I'm surprised we didn't get some homers on here talking about how much better we are then Cleveland...... I think the Browns win by at least 2 touchdowns in week 1.

The Browns will obliterate the Bengals week 1. I doubt the Bengals score.

I'll bite my tongue, and wait til closer to the game, but if they were playing next week for real, I'd say Cleveland by at least 3 TDs.

I think Mallet will be a better pro too. I also think he will be a better pro then Gabbert, Ponder, Locker, etc. But people are making too much out of his first game with an horrible O-Line, young WRs, Young TE. I fully believe Dalton will be fine. And we won't lose to Cle by 2 TDs much less 3. Jeeze that's a little sad, well for everyone except Kramer.

If the game were next week, it would be a blowout. By the actual opening day, then it could change.

I don't believe for one second we would get blown out by the Browns.
