I wasn't sure what you were referring to when you called Jason Kidd removing his name from consideration "classy". Then I read an article where he stated why he was doing so.

Basically, he said that Dame saying that's who he wanted publicly like he did, would put Lillard and the Blazers hiring process in an awkward position if he chose to pursue the job.

Yes and no. I have no problem with a team allowing it's star player(s) to have input on something as important as who the head coach will be. I also have no issue with a teams star(s) going to the team and letting them know if he has a preference.

What I do have an issue with though, is when a player makes a public statement that they want a certain coach. It limits the coaching search because some guys will choose not to waste their time interviewing.

In this case, it cost Dame the guy he wanted. Hopefully, Dame and others will learn to stop going public with stuff that should be handled quietly.
