I had heard that Sprint was leaving NASCAR as title sponsor the other day. And I know that the economy is suppose to be slowly getting better. But I would imagine that Brian France would still have trouble prying that much mula away from big corporations for a television deal. Some have even suggested that sponsorship go to the way of individual track sponsorship.
But that could be risky. Going backwards. To the days of small time racing being all their was. And nobody wants that.
You can thank the government for forcing a legal product like tobacco out of still sponsoring racing. Even in several recessions they were still funding racing.
NASCAR just signed a huge TV deal with Fox and NBC. I'm sure a sponsor will come, but it was just the Grand National Series before Winston came along. I wouldn't mind if it were just the Cup series.
