up front.. he's better than everyone the flyers have in their system haha.. i guess except maybe laughton, but i think he has a higher offensive upside than laughton

Ya basically 2 2nd rd'ers for vanek so not that bad but probably not exactly what the isles were hoping for. I'm glad that they didn't give up Laughton for a renter as the cup wouldn't be guaranteed even with vanek in the fold.

considering they gave up moulson a 1st and a 2nd for vanek in the first place.. isles fans should be rioting in the street. if collberg can match moulson, and even that's still a big if, they essentially burned a 1st round pick for nothing.

He's a scoring winger but his D can be up and down which isn't what the Chief is preaching these days. Probably better to keep a guy like Laughton who will fit right in next year and for many years after...

Overall I'd call this deadline a success. We got something for Mez and while I don't like what we gave for Macdonald or his impending contract the D was upgraded. Not to mention we didn't do anything ridiculously stupid.

yep, i'm good w/ it too.. all told it was essentially mesz and a 2nd for a potential rental in macdonald. and i'm good w/ that. nothing crazy, patience can still be preached, and if macdonald can prove himself he could be a worthwhile signing this sumemr

schenn, schenn, couturier, ghost, morin, hagg and all 1st round picks are all still flyers property. that's the big key to me.

(beyond the obvious untouchable guys.. which at this point i guess only includes simmonds, voracek, and giroux?)

The problem is that Vanek has stated he wants to play in Minnesota, so you're 99% likely to be only getting a rental. Teams will pay a bit more for a UFA they think they at least have a chance to resign.
