dominique wilkins nephew got signed for the hawks. But he kind of sucked so they released him. So far the Hawks are doing great but they won't be elite and win the championship though
holy shit you're one of those toronto fans!!! Sweet somebody else replied to this thread!
But yeah I'm hoping DH will be in ATL next year since him and Josh Smith are bff's.
It won't happen but I can dream.
Nope that was to good to be true. The NBA lockout halted the deal from being done and over the course of time something happened to make it fall through.
The Hawks look good so far though. Teague looks like the young quick PG this team had needed for the last few years and Marvin is playing the best ball of his career so far. They may have lost Jamal, but I think the bench now has more depth on it with Zaza, McGrady, and Vlad.
Rumor this past week though was that ATL was trying before the season started to land Dwight Howard in a deal centered around Al Horford or Josh Smith.
Rumor in Atlanta was the deal would be something like Al Horford and Kurt Hinrich's expiring 8m deal plus some draft picks for Dwight Howard. The Hawks were not even asking for Howard to sign an extension. Their thinking was they could at least get him to pick up his option for next year to play in his hometown with his childhood friend Josh Smith.
To anyone thinking that deal would be dumb give me a better offer the Magic have got so far. The Nets were offering Lopez and some younger pieces along with him, but Lopez is not an All-Star Center like Horford. I think the Magic would rather have Horford over either Gasol or Bynum as well because he is more durable and younger as well as a local favorite from his days at Florida winning national titles. Now if the Lakers break down and offer both Bynum and Gasol that's the deal they probably take.
I've also seen Joe Johnson + Al Horford for Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu rumored, but I don't see why Orlando would want to take Joe's 5 year contract just to get rid of the 3 year contract of Hedo, but the deal does land them 2 All-Stars and if they add in a Kurt Hinrich for J.J. Redick they will have around 25m coming off the books next year giving them freedom in the market to sign free agents.
Ok, I'll check in as a Hawks fan. I'm from Pittsburgh, so obviously not many basketball roots, but I do live in Alpharetta. Atlanta is admittedly not the greatest sports town, but I do try to cheer for the local teams (when they aren't playing my Penguins, Steelers or Pirates). I really wish the ownership took this franchise seriously after they ruined the Thrashers. Go Hawks?
sweet. I usually never talk NBA on here because we have so little fans.
But there are definitely more fans coming to the games than there were Thrashers. Plus, ATL gets to the playoffs every year
