Anyone else catch Carson Palmer's comments about the Lions CB's after the game? It was something to the effect of "Their corners don't play the ball, they play the receivers. So we knew if we threw some balls up there, we would draw some PI calls.":L

It does not surprise me. it would be one of 2 things I would do as an OC too. That and the backside pass. Lions CBs will get beat left and right on both of these. Safeties should never have an issue with this. If the WR got behind them they have bigger issues than playing the ball.

Cutting bentley is going too far. Start mathis, houston delmas and quin. Bench bentley though, someday he may be decent but i dunno mayhew may be the worst gm ever drafting anyone after the tenth pick.

Oh arians was four times the coach schwartz was. The sad thing is who the fuck is arians? Why cant the lions ever find a coach or gm with half a fucking brain? Schwartzz entire brain is controlled by 50% emotions 48% ego and 2% concussion. Hes about as useful to the lions as michael spurlock.

How quick we forget about Millen. Mayhew has a few late round picks that have turned out all right, he has not been great, but he has not been horrible either.

What late round picks are you referring to and what do you consider late round?

Willie Young
Jason Fox
Lydon Murtha (didn't sneak through the PS, and that was a shame)
Sammie Hill
Zach Follet

As far as in the future, Greenwood still might be good, Whitehead has some potential.

This year Riddick, Taylor, and Martin all look like keepers. Plus Fauria and Waddle look real good too

Jason Fox is starting quality, the health is a shame though. Follet was a huge steal before he hurt his neck. That was not a pre exsisting thing, it was an unfortuante accident. That does not take away from what he was providing before it happened.

Murtha I can see the argument against, he was starting but never played again after the Toe injury.

Yeah fox is starting because the lions were out of options. Isnt he injured again. Follet was a good special teams player but he wouldve never been any good on defense. Fox may end up being decent but up to this point what is it three years later he hasnt proven anything.

Also if you look through other teams late round picks from the same time frame how many current contributors do most teams come up with? Late round is a crap shoot, and Mayhew has come up with some contributors late. Millen never did.

He pulled a contributor from the 7th round, one who excelled at a key aspect of the game, what more do you want?

I agree he got value out of a seventh round pick. Unfortunately getting value out of a seventh rounder usually will not lead to wins. Now if he could get value out of a pick between mid first and third they might go somewhere but he continues to draft bests, broyles, youngs, leshoures, bentleys etc. he wastes all of our valuable draft picks on clowns. His best pick was probably fairley at this point as suh and staff were arguably no brainers.

A win against an Arizona team that probably wont win 5 games, which is probably as many as we might win

Looking at mid first round and later im guessing most teams have had more success. One that really sticks out atm is taking titties young and gb nabbing cob. Yeah every team has misses, just seems like detroit consistently has more and just because hes not millen doesnt mesn he should get a free pass, i mean he was involved when millen was there as well. As some other posters have said though it really starts with ford, imagine if ilitch owned the lioms this kind of shit would not happen.

It is hard to argue with your ever changing target, first he was the worst ever, then it was late round picks, now it is mid-round picks?

What does this have to do with the discussion for draft selections?
