Guess that Weidl didn't learn anything from Decosta or Douglas.

Safe to say Howie reached on all three of his selections?

At least they needed a LB.
On the Eagles website, they're hinting that they can now have 2 players who can throw the ball at the same time.

There have been no QBs taken after Jalen Hurts.

I get that they need a cheap backup QB option because a veteran might cost a couple million and they have cap issues. He was slated as a mid-second to fourth round pick. Seems like they could have found a similar player with a later pick, but Hurts does have a nice pedigree from a winning program and likely would have been scooped up in the 3rd round.

I don't know.

It's a luxury pick.

Sounds like fans and the team are split on whether the team is good enough already to be spending draft capital on luxuries. They think they are.

Just seems like there are so many more other pressing needs.

We can certainly say that their first three picks are all fast.

when the best case scenario for your second round pick is that he never sees the field its clear to everyone that the pick is a complete waste

NFL Network gave the Eagles a A-, so far.

Speed was our number one need.

We also needed a backup QB, even if most of us would have rather not spent a 2nd round pick on one.

Amik Robertson, CB, La.Tech, should be our 1st pick in the 4th round. He is a playmaker.

ok, so I was so pissed last night that I didn't even stay up for our 3rd round pick (this from a complete draft geek like myself) ... I just went to bed early. So I wake up this morning and immediately go to see if the Eagles screwed up our 3rd round pick as well. I see that they picked LB Davion Taylor ... a guy I had done zero studying of, I hadn't pulled up any game film or even looked at a youtube highlight of him. So, after some quick film study on him ... I'm down with the pick. Dude plays so much bigger than what he is ... great speed-to-power player; phenomenal tackler. Very quick reaction time on plays and can cover like a Safety from the bits I've seen. I usually spend much more time watching a player before I do write ups as I try to see full games where you can see a player's bad points as well. So I'll do another write up after I find more tape, but so far I really like what I see from Davion Taylor.

I went straight to watching whatever film I could on Taylor, but just stumbled on to his workout stuff ... I had not realized that this kid ran a 4.49 at the Combine then a 4.39 at his Pro Day. He falls right in line with the hybrid Safety/LB type of player the Eagles covet. Really liking this pick and the Reagor pick ... I'm just going to pretend like we didn't have a 2nd round pick, that way it doesn't sap my happiness about our draft in general :)

 Taylor is a stud. He will play special teams until he learns how to play LB in the NFL. Kind of raw. Great pick!

The only way hurts makes any sense is that they eagles think wentz is incapable, unwilling to change his style of play and that he will have multiple injuries over the coming years and the team needs to be prepared for it.

we need a backup, but i don't see how Hurts fits that bill. He's a one read and run QB. His comps are the eagles use him as a guy that was an UDFA (Hill) or Tim Tebow, a winner with intangibles, but a shitty QB.
