Kidding. Just want to see whatever thinks.

I don't really care at this point. But all it says to me is, yes, this team is that desperate.

i'm whatever at this point myself.

its pretty comical and just makes this franchise look bad around the nhl. i wonder how many more jokes about lou bringing back former players with this signing.

it also says a lot about the prospects in albany that not a single one of them can be called up like a normal nhl franchise and given a shot? do they all suck down there? does lou not "trust" them? i mean you would think we are a 25 year old team and in first place. not a 35 year old team and a fringe playoff team.

Here are the 2 major problems I see right now.
1) you have a coach on the hot seat. What this means, he will not just play younger guys and deal with the growing pains and mistakes. Instead, he will play his Gionta line and vets hoping they can turn this around.
2) Even thought some of us think this team should become sellers with the goal of getting younger and faster, there is pressure for Lou to make the playoffs. Playoffs needed to make money for owners, and if last season was any indication (team in same spot really), then selling off is not an option.

All these players Lou has brought in would be great to polish off a team making a cup run. Instead he brings them in as franchise players. Noway Gomez should get 1st line duties but Elias sucks at center zubrus hasn't been useful in years and gionta is a bum.

I agree Elias belongs on the wing. And I'm really not sure what the fascination with Zubrus and gionta is about. Gomez may not be a savior but he is an upgrade over gio light

Its an ironic twist of fate. I made a lot of jokes about the Rangers and them fielding the all-star team of 10 years ago and now the Devils are doing it.

Its very similar. I guess the only difference is for the Rangers, guys signed that last fat contract before retirement, where in NJ, its more like nobody else wants these players anymore, but they don't want to retire yet, so they sign these small deals in NJ.

God, how slow is our 1st line going to be... I hope he matches them against 3rd and 4th lines because if not, look out...

You can say a lot about Gomez... He has a terrible shot and uses it too much, he's bad at faceoffs, he doesn't play defense well, he's extremely soft, etc.

One thing that I've never described Gomez is slow though.

Still can pass, create plays, and skate.
Can't be upset with the effort tonight so far.
