My head hurts a little after reading this...

It's just a rumor!

Believable though. The Owners are tired of paying out real cash to their employees. Why not put some monkey's out there. The fans will still come to watch either way.

Wilson is likely asking for quite a bit less than what he would make on the open market.

Everyone's jaws would fall to the floor if they saw the packages that would be put together by QB needy teams. Look at Oakland for instance who struggles to attract FA's so they end up wasting money overpaying average at best players just to fill out their roster year after year. If they paid Wilson $50M in each of the first 2 years of his deal and then for the next 4 pay him a reasonable amount like $25M a year, I think it is unquestionable that they would be better off moving forward. And it wouldn't be very hard for them to do either considering they are going to head into this coming season almost $30M underneath the cap anyway.

That is an extreme example that isn't very likely but teams would go ape*&#$ crazy for a young QB like Wilson on the open market.

And proceed to suck for years... The Seahawks would rather pay him a fair rate for his contributions.

I think it is looking quite likely that the Titans deal the pick. But Seattle would be insane to trade Wilson for anyone. The teams reportedly in negotiations according to Sal Paolantonio are the Chargers and Eagles. I also expect the Browns to get into the mix.

Define fair. Player's in theory should be paid somewhat close to market value. IMO Wilson's market value is closer to $30M annually than it is $20M annually.

If Seattle balks at that and thinks they can find a QB to take them to the SB in back to back years out of thin air because they were lucky enough to find that once in Wilson then they deserve the years of mediocrity they will most likely face without him.

It's an easy job over there in Seattle with the focus on the running game and the defense keeping every game close. They'll be fine. 30 would hamstring them. No QB makes that. 20 puts him in the top 5. That's plenty.

You have to look at where the cap is going. The $30M bar will likely be beat in the next couple of years. $30M annually moving forward will be a smaller % of the cap than what the Broncos have paid Manning since they first got him. It's not like they have really struggle with signing players.

And a high cap hit on a QB hamstrings a team A LOT less than not having a quality QB does.

I don't know why I am bothering to discuss it though. They aren't trading Wilson. They would be fools to give up a quality young QB like that in this league.

Russell Wilson represents 1/3 of the running "game" and gained 2 yards on the ground for every 3 Lynch gained. He's a huge reason why the running "game" is so good. You would jump for joy and talk about SBs if he was Philly's QB right now.

Oh hell no. I actually throw out some wilds ideas about trading Wilson ( just for giggles) this isn't one of them and never would be. Mariota is a project, he may work out ...or not, but you don't trade a franchise QB on a SB contender for a project at QB.

Let the frigging draft begin, rumors are getting silly.
Damn, Harold, didn't we already do this on the Seattle board? We should just merge the muck.....

Can't merge a thread on the general board with a thread on a team board. Don't think I would want to anyways. Different audiences. This one is nonsense...there just is no way the Seahawks make this move.

That would be a good trade for seattle keeps them a cheap qb for anothrr 3-4 years and they can build the team with the saved cap room

It's so dam hard too find good QB's ... You can draft another guy and he can screw everything up for you... When you have a proven guy who play's solid in big games, you keep him... Wilson just needs more weapons out there in the receiving game to put up better numbers... Jimmy was a good step ...

I dnt think its hard to find good qbs. Its just not alot of good organizations and structures to where qbs can learn while playn on good teams with good coaches

Yeah that's important also... But even with good structure the QB has too be smart and work within that system well... So many just don't ...

Jeff Fisher whole heartedly disagrees. So does every Ravens and Steelers fan on the planet, they had dominating defenses and great running games for years, but didn't become truely consistent contenders until they found a guy after years and years of rotating door of QBs.

How many great defenses and running backs have we seen go to waste through the years because they didn't have a QB? Now it's the easiest thing to do in the NFL!
