Wow. Peterson and Hillman. Unbelievable. It's an embarrassment of riches at the RB position in Minnesota. I'm going to have to change my pick in the Vikings game now. As a matter of fact, I'm picking the Vikings to ride Hillman's coattails all the way to the Super Bowl.

The Vikings just put the rest of the NFL on notice. Super Bowl, here they come.

Peterson just lost the starting role in Minnesota. Might as well hang 'em up.

Good for Ronnie. He wasn't great but he had some key plays for us. He had several really nice runs in the game winning drive against Pittsburgh.

Of course I like Ronnie and wish him the best but he landed in spot where Asiata fits same role as him. Good rb insurance policy signing if Matt or McKinnon go down though.

I would disagree that they fit the same role.

Asiata is a goal line/power back, short yardage back. Hillman is much more similar to McKinnon then Asiata. Asiata weighs 225, Hillman weights 190 wet. They are totally opposite running backs.

Asiata is a pass catching RB. Had over 40 receptions in 2014. Peace.

Right- He can also catch the ball. But his run game is power back/short yardage. He isn't going to juke you out of your jock strap. Then again neither is Hillman, but Hillman isn't going to run you over either. Hillman isn't going to do much to you I suppose. ;)

Glad he found a home. There are a lot of teams out there that have a worse 3rd string RB than that of Hillman. He shouldn't be a starter but a guy that can handle maybe 5 carries a game and maybe break off a few long runs during the season isn't a bad thing to have on the team. So good for him.

Happy for Ronnie. He's a good enough back to be a factor in this league, and me personally, I'd have rather we kept him over Bibbs. He should get some work along with McKinnon now that AP is probably shelved for the year.

I'm interested to see Bibbs get a few more opportunities. In his limited chances he has made a couple of nice plays. Picked up a nice 3rd and short play this last week and has been a good receiver out of the backfield. Haven't watched to see how he has done pass blocking if he has had the chance. And haven't really seen him make a special teams play yet considering that is why we kept him over Ronnie.

I will give you that Asiata is a bigger back and " his role " was to be the tough short yardage type guy but he really hasn't fared any better at doing that than Ronnie did especially last year. Besides the 3.4 yards per carry that Asiata has compared to Hilmans 4.2 . They both have about same number of tds around 12 , and I think, anyway, they have very similar receiving stats as well. Thus my opinion even though Asiata is bigger back and his " expectations " to be that " tough yard " back, hasn't really materialized and his stats and success at it is very similar to Ronnies is fairly accurate Sir :)

Fair enough-- If we are comparing stats then sure. But when most people compare a player to another player it is in terms of what type of RB they are. Power, speed, etc.

Also Asiata has as many touchdowns as Hillman in 203 less carries. Your opportunity when you play behind AP to get touches is very short unless he is injured. Hillman had every opportunity to succeed. I don't think Asiata is a "great" NFL RB by any means. I was referring to the style of RB when comparing. Not stats.... I guess as a draft guru when comparing players on my site we compare the style of player, not the stats they put up. If that was the case I might look silly for comparing Plaxico Burress to some small WR like DeSean Jackson based on stats when they are nothing alike as players.
