Well, It's just one game. Maybe this team that had all this promise earlier in the year will finally show up today, and maybe pigs will start flying.

Wish I had seen pigs fly last night then I could say I saw something I hadn't seen before. The Cards beating up on Bronson, been there done that. Still got that flying pig pic John?

It'd be easy to blame the loss on pitching, but if Bronson has a quality start and the pen gave up a single run the end result would have been the same, another loss.

Let me say it ONE more time--fire the goddamn manager! I think we will see light at the end of the tunnel here soon. If the Reds let the wild card slip away, DustMop will have a problem. Good chance they may put him on the boat and ship his sorry ass the fuck out of here. It is the Coaches and Manager's responsibility to prepare and teach players to play better baseball than we are seeing. The talent is here, the Coaching is not.

The positive on Dusty is that he's a players manager and the players love him. That can also be a problem and its obvious this team is not performing for him. They seem to have the same laid back approach as Dusty. I don't see any cockiness out of this team at all. Its like they step on the field expecting to lose to teams with a winning record.

Truth is this is right out of the Dusty Baker resume. Give him a team with top grade talent and he will give you some hope every year but after three the hype starts to die and the player no longer buy his I am a players manager style. This team needs a fighter vin that dugout that wants to win as much as they should. Just fire Dusty and get Lou Pinella to manage this team for the rest of the season.

A flying elephant, now that might just be what were looking for.

Well, he might not be able to carry the team, but it appears he can fly and give a mouse a ride all at the same time. That's two tools most players don't have, so see.... there is room for optimism.

And it's a nice guy to have when Carp decides to start a fight on the field.

I was at the game. Body language just isn't right. Phillips had 2 balls hit one step to his left or right he never moved on- did the fallen tree act instead of taking the step, and he's better than that. Robinson ran over a ball , OF jogging to doubles in the gap- couldn't cut the ball off, but better routs would have reduced a base from runners. Scoring early takes some starch out if teams, but this one doesnt have much starch anyway. Patch didn't save the bullpen, so leaving him in to double the deficit accomplished zero.

No good comments yesterday, better come back today, or you can call the coroner. If this team does a nosedive I'd fire the whole staff. Miami took 2 from the Cardinals, so Zi know it can be done. I can't wait for Ludwick to come back. I don't think he's going to change much win wide, but at least people will have to stop acting like his absence is what's missing.gotta recognize a problem to fix it.

Speaking of Partch, I see where he was optioned back to AAA and they've recalled Pedro Villarreal. Hard to see where the upgrade is in that move.

Does Pedro Villarreal have something on Dusty and Walt. He's been up with the team 2 or 3 times and has shown me nothing. Is Arredondo still down there, He'd have to be better than Villareal or Partch. Not that a relief pitcher is going to help us anyway

Pedro is a guy they don't mind burning options on.
He can be traded in the off-season for another pitcher just like him.

Cingrani had a chance to make a difference in this game and didn't bring his game with him.
What exactly does this team need for motivation?

FUNDAFUCKIN MENTAL BASEBALL.

Mental meaning ... how can you load the bases with 0 out and not hit the ball more than 100 feet?

Lynn will be tough. Leake has shown some gusto.
What needs to happen is baserunners.
I am not happy with some of the AB's that I saw tonight and it's time to set the bar a little higher.
Derrick Robinson needs to get with the program.

So far, likin' how Mesoraco has stepped up.
Parra is Bryan Price's newest recovery project. Just a couple of bright spots.

Robinson is useless.

And yes Parra, for all the shit he took at the beginning of the season, has actually turned into the most reliable arm in the pen these days.

Mesoraco should be the every day catcher from here on out. He's much more of a threat at the plate than Hanigan and he appears to have progressed enough behind the plate to where he's no longer a liability back there.

Reds need a win. It's what they always need.

As far as players to count on, there may not be that many. Mesoraco needs at bats to see. He'll get them as long as Hanigan is down. Robinson has skills not valued on this team, and fits a role that doesn't exist. Cozart is a glove. Frazier is not going to be a frequent impact player, but could be nice complimentary player. Ludwick ? It used to be Heisey, Gomes before him. Lots of guys can hit for a minute, but when these guys do, it's more luck than timing.

Choo, Phillips, Votto and Bruce are the offense. The trick is in getting enough other players to chip in, to muster 4 runs before the 9th inning.
