they scored 36 runs this weekend series, and 27 came off non-HR's. It absolutely is "hot hitting."
Detroit was raking it too and we were able to shut them down. This will be a good test for our pitching and if successful will give out staff a lot of confidence moving forward.

It looks like we have Dutch, Colby, and YoGa lined up for the series. They're throwing Buehrle and Price in the first two. Looks like the offense and the pitchers are going to get tested.

76 more runs scored than the next best offense in baseball and a slugging % 10 points higher than any other team in baseball is not "hot hitting". Their team batting average and on-base % say they should be a middle of the pack offense, yet they're lapping the field in runs scored and slugging %.

I'm speaking of their play recently. You're looking at numbers over 120 games. Sure, there's an anomaly spread out over that wide range. But looking at the series they just wrapped up this weekend - which is what they're coming to Texas with - then yes, they are definitely a hot hitting team right now.

And Estrada. This is their 3 best pitchers. Our offense was not exactly on fire in Detroit so I hope we get back to some good home cooking.

Could not have gone much better for the Rangers yesterday other than Houston winning.

– Manager Jeff Banister said this likely will be the final planned game off for Elvis Andrus and Prince Fielder for the season.

– Shin-Soo Choo has reached base in all 28 starts since the All-Star break.

– Slugger Joey Gallo has slipped into another downturn with Triple-A Round Rock. He began Sunday’s play with two hits and 13 strikeouts in his last 23 at-bats. Gallo was hitting .197 with 13 homers and 78 strikeouts in 173 at-bats overall in the Pacific Coast League.
