Hopefully that sends a message to the rest of the players that getting suspended for abusing the rules makes you expendable.

If this is what they intended to do, why did they wait? Why not just cut him sooner?

They must have found out something within the last 3 weeks that made them change their mind, otherwise this makes no sense.

The LBing corp. is now weaker because Witherspoon is no Dunbar. He is older and slower and unless Ray Ray takes his place sooner rather than later, it will not be an improvement over last year.

Our LB corp just went from being strong to weak. Dam it. He played good football last year. Now what?

We may have a "handshake agreement" that if he doesn't want to go anywhere else, we'll take him back pending injuries. I'm sure the reason we didn't cut him sooner is because we want him. Now that some of the younger players performed beyond expectations (Stewart, Armstrong, Bates), we didn't want to risk losing them on waivers.

Two things here fellas, 1) Jeff Fisher is sending a message to the team that he isn't going to put up with any type of preventable act and 2) Kevin, Les and Jeff believe that Ray Ray Armstrong is the answer. I think it's a surprising move based on talent, but a good one if he is going to pose a problem in the locker room. Lets get this damn show started already. Sunday couldn't come soon enough. Go Rams!

Ray Ray is cheaper and has more upside.

I love Ray Ray! He can hit and has speed. He may be a little raw in coverage, but he's a Miami boy and I'm all about The U!

Ditto on that SJ76! Dunbar didn't use his head and Fisher and Snead will not tolerate knuckleheads.

So what about depth? What if someone goes down? I thought we brought in Witherspoon for depth?

Just like they picked up Spoon before the Dunbar suspension was announced, maybe there's a second infraction announcement coming? Who knows, but really it doesn't affect the current plan until week 5 as he was going to miss the first 4 weeks anyway.

I think Bryan Scott (released by Buffalo Saturday) would be a good depth Ni/Di LB to help teach Ogletree and Armstrong. He's played very well in that role and has played both S and LB at the NFL level.

Makes sense to me.

Dunbar was a journeyman LB for years.

He comes into the Rams organization and plays well above his previous standards.

He's suspended for PEDs.

The Rams see him in practice and think he's not good enough to be on the team. Now that he's not on PEDs.

Sad tale, but common.

You took the words out of my mouth. He is undrafted and has one good year. Probably wont repeat and they have Ogletree to replace him dont they.

Word around Rams Park is that there was something in the last couple of weeks with Dunbar that we do not know about....yet. Bottom line is Fisher is not going to tolerate that crap. Armstrong,Stewart,Bates and Ogletree as well as Phillip Steward on the PS are all guys that a solid guys. I really agree with some of the comments above that the staff is VERY VERY high on Ray Ray and feel like he will be in the rotation more than Spoon by mid season. They are also very high on Stewart as a backup to JL55.
In addition, there are a TON of solid veteran LB we can sign on a 1 year deal that would be as good or better than even Spoon. Barrett Ruud, Nick Barnett,Leroy Hill, Takeo Spikes, Bradie James, Aaron Maybin or AJ Edds would be a big help..

Surprises the heck out of me. I think most of you are right, they know something we don't. Either we can't afford to keep him suspended for 4 weeks and we'll get some one to back up spoon in the mean time or he wasn't performing up to standards. Either way I believe that Fish and Co. know what they're doing and we'll soon know the answer to this puzzling release.

He will probably sign with the 49'ers or Seahawks.

That would suck but I could see it happening. This cut did surprise me; hope it doesn't bite us.
