35-7 final. Run game really looked good today, looks like Zwinak hit 100 today. D did allow 292 yards through the air, but got 3 takeaways and held Illinois to 4-15 on 3rd, where we're improving. I'm really glad we stopped that last drive, in light of everything that's gone down.
We're definitely improving and I have alot of hope going forward with the rest of the season. I know Illinois isn't exactly a team to brag about beating this year but I could see the improvement in mechanics.
Oh and the ESPN announcers... That ejection was definitely a good call by the refs. The guy was running horizontal on the field a yard deep in the end zone, there was no way that was not deliberate.
There has still never been n NCAA infraction at PSU. It was a power hungry turd over stepping his bounds and making up new rules to punish a program who had followed their stupid ass rules to a T while others broke them and laughed in the face of the NCAA and getting slapped on the wrist.
OL is getting better every week and Donovan Smith IS that damn good. He makes a huge difference. Running backs are a very nice mix of complimenting styles. We can play any kind of game/offense with the players we have....power, spread, you name it, they can do it. McGloin looked the shakiest he's been all year, but it didn't matter because we had complete balance.
Defensively, the LB's were monsters as well as the DL. The secondary still had some guys running free that Ill QB just flat out missed. Mauti is an absolute beast and once again, Mike Hull keeps getting better each week. I think Hull will be key against a team like NW who likes to spread it out. Carson more traditional MLB, Hull can really run and cover. If they can win this coming week, it could really snowball into a very nice season. Confidence will be very high and team is getting healthy. Can't wait to hit Happy Valley Saturday morning, have some BBQ at prospector's booth and bounce around to a few homecoming tailgates.
