Just a thread for collecting information on this year's draft class since the playoffs are a remote possibility at this point. You are welcome to use this thread as a mock draft compiler; or to insert your own mock draft. With extra draft picks this year for the first time during the Dorsey Regime, there's an excellent opportunity for the Chiefs to patch holes that exist on draft day.

It's a pretty solid WR crop. I like the kid Parker from Louisville, maybe DGB though he's a bit of a WC having not played in awhile. White(WVU)or Montgomery(Stanford)seem solid too. Perhaps an OL like Peat from Stanford or the guy from TEX A@M.

As of right this second, this is how I hope our first four picks go.

1 Kevin White WR
2 Tyrus Thompson OT
3 Eric Kendricks ILB
3 Conor Hanratty OG

I see Jaelen Strong being mocked in a few drafts to us so far, which is about right for his draft range. If he ever ran well at the combine he could shoot up even further. He's not the fastest but he runs pretty well and goes up and gets the ball.

truth to tell i'd be happy with a wideout who could 1) stretch the field, or 2) failing that, could simply out size and out jump opposing corners. this draft's gonna be interesting...

Going to be really interesting to see what happens. There's a semi-plausible scenario for about every receiver not named Amari Cooper being available at 18. On the flip side, the 1st round could be a run on WR's, too; really interesting position group in this draft. If I got to pick one, I'd take Parker, but I am not too confident he is at 18 (though in the realm of possibility) with the teams that are ahead of us. Next favorite at 18 would be Kevin White for me.

I, personally, wouldn't be too upset with drafting an OT in the first and grabbing a Justin Hardy type in the 2nd. Then again, I think we could really use Kendricks with his range (slight UCLA homerism) at ILB to snuff out the holes that Mauga and JMJ are definitely not going to fill. Really exciting draft all around given the Chiefs will have possibly double digit picks to play with.

I think KC should draft for depth. Grab someone to back up Dee Ford, Charles, and Kelce. Just kidding.

I wouldn't be surprised by this again. Need a heir to Derrick Johnson real soon given he is approaching his mid 30's and post Achilles. We will see though. Maxx Williams would be a funny pick; could roll out a mean 3 TE set with Kelce, Williams, and Harris. Would be quite the overkill at TE, however.

Here's a comp pick projection from Overthecap, but given the mystery of the secret sauce that is the comp pick formula, don't marry your mocks to this projection here:

Brandon Albert nets a 3rd round pick.

Tyson Jackson and Jon Asamoah each net 5th rounders.

Quentin Demps nets a 7th round pick.

I see a lot of people talking up Sammie Coates today. Watch his eyes as he runs routes. Often drops them. Coaches getting on him for that.

Falling in love w/ OSU WR Devin Smith, who is kicking ass at Senior Bowl right now. #Vikings

Jamil Douglas played LT in college, told me he worked out with Jeff Allen last summer. Douglas said Chiefs talked to him about playing G.

For those wondering, Tyler Bray was injured in January playing basketball, according to source.
2h2 hours ago
Reid wasn't willing to discuss the injury and said he wasn't sure Chiefs would stick with Bray through his rehab. BTW, injury was torn ACL

Reid and Dorsey like to pick QBs and with so many picks this year, they might pick another somewhere to replace Bray. Push Pryor and Murray for the two backup spots. The next year is when someone would push Smith.

Yep, as much as I like Smith and wish the best for him on the field, there's no way this franchise can be caught with its pants down at QB yet again when change comes.

From ESPN on LDT. Might be worth noting for this upcoming draft.

Duvernay-Tardif had some interesting things to say last month in an interview with CBC in Canada. He revealed that he took some first-team snaps in practice last season because of injuries to other players. Despite that, the Chiefs were never tempted to utilize him in a game.

“[Chiefs coaches] basically told me they wish I would have been able to compete and play during the season, but they weren’t confident enough that I was not going to make a little mental error," he said. "But they told me I was strong enough, fast enough, athletic enough. That’s a big plus for me. Now I know I can play against those guys. It’s just up here [pointing to his temple]. This part, it got better during the season and it’s still going to get better during the course of the year. I’ve only been practicing [offensive line] for three years now. I’m going to get a lot better and I’m already a lot better than I was a year ago.

“Of course [not playing] is going to get a bit frustrating. You think you’re ready, you think you’re better than the guy in front of you but you don’t get to start."
