More good discipline from Pedro as he draws the walk off of Russell.

Alvarez's walk is huge, as Martin comes through with the sacrifice fly, scoring Marte for the go-ahead run.

Comfortable inning for Melancon, and the Bucs carry a lead into the ninth.

Shame they couldn't get more with the bases loaded. Lets hope they hold on.

Ishikawa smoked that ball, but right at Rizzo.

Who would have thought Ishikawa would be hitting so well.

Does it seem to anyone else like Harrison is standing really far away from the plate?

What was Bonafacio doing there? That was a bit strange.

Glad they won. I guess they wanted to keep it interesting tonight.

Pedro alvarez looks like a really confident and professional ballplayer this year. I think he's my new favorite. His baserunning has been really good too.

I've liked his baserunning for a while now. He's not fast, but he's aggressive and he hustles.

Crossing fingers this is a new and improved Pedro and not just starting on a hot streak Pedro, because he looks like a professional hitter up there.

Improved or not, "Starting on a Hot Streak Pedro" is still a "new" Pedro.

ever since he came up he runs the bases well, hustles, pays attention, gets the most out of his speed, and makes really good decisions.

i think an indicator that he is a heady ballplayer.
the good side is that he is a student of the game and will learn and apply.
the down side is he is sensitive and might over analyze and get down on himself thinking he should be problem solving it better.

he will continue to grow, at what rate ..... ?

Pedro is making me reconsider the offense. I was hoping he would continue to make incremental improvements but his body language is different. I don't even care about the stats right now. He looks like he has transferred over to the "confident professional" camp. I used to think of him as belonging to the Walker, Jones group of "occasionally good" but he has been just about McCutchen good so far this year.

I'm with you. My prediction of an 81-81 season was predicated in part on a decline of offensive production this year, but if Pedro and Marte continue to show composure at the plate and Ishi performs better than expected, then they will be fine and playoff-bound again.

I'm also liking Walker batting in the 7th spot, gives him more opportunity to advance runners/get RBIs.
