Pick the Podium - F-1 - Gran Premio Heineken D’italia, Monza, Italy, September, 2020

This week-end, the F-1 boys role into the famous Monza circuit in Italy for the Italian Grand Prix. The Mercs are once again dominant as they just come off another 1-2 finish in Belgium. Verstappen has settled into his normal inconsistent state from years past and his reliability at finishing above third place or winning the race outright seems to be just as sporadic as before. We shall see if the Mercs just keep marching onward as Hamilton has a substantial lead over Verstappen for yet another championship.

Get to see in Renault keeps it's speed.

No more party modes. Same setting for qualifying and race day.

I expect a couple of blown engines.

I think Merc has the legs still and will stress their lump less.

The Mercs are just flat-out dominant but since the merger with Fiat-Chrysler, Renault is coming on.

Bottas leads Hamilton in Practice one with Verstappen crashing.

Didn't take long for Hamilton to coming roaring back passing Bottas in Practice 2. Norris was third and Gasly fourth with Verstappen in fifth after his crash.

Haas should really think about a change in engine supplier for the 2021 season as Ferrari is just dying a slow death being surpassed by the likes of McClaren/Renault. Both Haas drivers have still not gotten past 15th place and are struggling with power issues at Monza and other venues this season.

No Ferrari powered car in the top 10 AT MONZA. Wow. First time since 1984.

Renault has looked good, but I don't know if it's got enough grunt to get to the podium.

Gonna get worse with the McLaren getting Merc engines too. I would expect that Williams will just buy a bunch of AMG parts too like Racing Point did.

Bottas in f funk, great race from Sainz and Gasly.

Lewis unlucky.

Uncharacteristic gaffe from the Pit Wall blows away an easy win for Lewis. How did they NOT realize the pits were closed? You could see Sainz, Norris and Perez divert away in the background when Lewis was coming in. Their teams knew and called them off. Wow. Crappy light placement notwithstanding, the Pit Wall blew that one.

So unbelievably happy for Gasly. A solid driver who has had to put up with a lot the last year and a half. Nice to see him rewarded.

Sainz has to be trying to figure out a way out of that next contract. The Ferraris were dog shit and he was within a shout of a podium even without the chaos. He damn near won the thing in a McLaren.

Best "race" of the season. If only freak accidents and miracles happened/occurred against Mercedes every week...

That said, well done to the top 3 finishers!
