Always look forward to this one. Not sure if I like my Pens' chances, but this is a rivalry game (perhaps the best rivalry in the NHL today) so you never know what will happen.

Unfortunately, I don't think this game matters. The Penguins are probably most concerned with just trying to stay as healthy as possible. The Flyers do still need a win to secure third in the Metro, but if we had to beat Carolina at home on sunday, I think that's a very winnable game.

Thing I'm most worried about is the Pens likely playing the fourth a whole bunch to try and keep the real skaters healthy, meaning lots of opportunities for our people to end up NOT healthy against the goonier portion of the Pittsburgh lineup.

I hope we play hard though; a win today keeps us safe from Boston (and in fact locks us in against the Rangers).

We do always get up for this game, especially in Pittsburgh. I'd really like to improve on our impeccable record in their building and at the same time we don't want to have a must-win game on sunday that either Ward or Khudobin could steal from us. A non-playoff Carolina team just beat Detroit when they desperately needed a win to keep from being the lowest wild card.

I don't care what anyone says, I'd much rather play the Rangers than the Bruins if only just based on the depth of each team. The Bruins are what we aspire to become, they just do it better than us right now. Let's beat the Rangers, Pens and then hope the Bruins get knocked out by Tampa or Montreal.

I think that the Bruins could even potentially have trouble with Detroit, especially with Zetterberg back and healthy.

Let's just hope for no injuries. Yes, that even goes for Flyer players, but especially for Pens players (we're finally starting to get healthy) :hope:

I agree, Red Wings went 3-1 against the Bruins this season. Red Wings would be the worst possible 1st round matchup for the Bruins IMO.

We won't goon, you don't goon, let's just stay healthy this game. Don't even mind if the Flyers win (can't believe I'm saying that) as long as we don't sustain anymore injuries :hope:

Just beat Pittsburgh

Seriously. There would be nothing better than to beat Pittsburgh in their building one more time to claim a top three spot.

I wonder how many people in October and November (other than me) truly thought that this team could rebound enough this season to make the playoffs without even utilizing a wild card spot.

I know a great deal of us were calling for Homer's head and the complete dismantling of the team in order to tank for the top overall pick and rebuild. Not fucking me. I believed in this group of players from day one and I still think they have room to improve and grow.

I just want to see the Flyers play a good game, get a ROW win and get everything done with today so the last game isn't meaningful

Yes. The problem with letting it wait until tomorrow is that Ward or Khudobin could theoretically stand on his head and force the game into a shootout, then all of the sudden we're fucked if we lost today while Columbus won.

At least we do own the ROW tiebreaker with Detroit no matter what, so if we did somehow slip to a wild card via a shootout win and a regulation loss or two shootout losses, we'd play Pittsburgh in round one even if Detroit wins their last game.

The only way to get rid of all of this nonsense is to just go out there and win a game today. We can't just hope we slide to the first wild card because if we don't win one of the next two games, Detroit could easily pass us too.

I just want the Flyers to play well these last two games and head into the playoffs against the Rangers playing well - I'll take that combination any day of the week

Kimmo and Nicklas Grossmann are out today - so Hal Gill is back in the lineup - I agree with resting those guys however I would have thought they would have tried to win with them today and then rest them tomorrow if/when they got the third spot

Follow Neal around the ice, constantly alternating pointing at his own eyes, then pointing at Neal.

Hopefully Neal doesn't accidentally throw a flying elbow
