All due credit and respect to Corey Crawford and his goalposts, but the refs really tipped the game in Chicago's favor, calling that tick-tack interference on Letang (even though he hit Toews while Toews was attempting to play the puck), and then letting the Hawks get away with hooking, slashing, and interference all over the ice (including Seabrook grabbing Plotnikov from behind to keep him from getting to a loose puck in a more obvious, egregious, and illegal version of exactly what Letang was sent off for), and turning a blind eye to an obvious too many men penalty (I mean seriously, all four players were in the same area, there is no way they could have missed it) in OT shortly before the Hawks finally scored and ended the game.

It wasn't the refs' fault the Pens didn't bury one more of their glorious chances, but they need to be better than they were tonight, and they almost never are.

Sheary, though, I'm unimpressed with. He's so weak on his skates, and he's not much stronger on the puck. I just don't think he has the strength for his style to ever translate to the NHL.

Agreed DS.

There was also a hook at the very beginning of the game against Kessel that prevented him from going in alone on Crawford. Hjalmarsson was the guilty party. He knew what he did was a penalty and Bourque said he even looked at the ref in expectation of getting called for it. The officials, as always, do a piss poor job.

At least they battled back and salvaged a point.

Now that looks like the Sidney Crosby everyone around here remembers. Far side top corner from the right circle. He had some glorious chances before that one finally went in. Sid is on quite a roll right now. 5g 2a in his past four.

Also, Doob, Crosby obliged you and sniped another one tonight. His shot looks wicked again.
Yeah, nice to see his wrister back, haven't seen that in a couple years.

I actually don't feel bad about the loss. Blackhawks are the best team in the league, they were up by 2 goals, we got a point out of it, and Sid is back to his old form. All things considering, lots of positives to take from this loss.

Yes, better, much better...Skid looking very good. But this team is lacking any real D talent.

Not sure how/why Plotnikov gets playing time other than being roster filler, and we can see why Peron was given up on by multiple teams

Hopefully they can make the playoffs to salvage this season

What a great night for sports, Pens win 3-1, Steelers win 18-16 in one of the craziest playoff games I've ever seen. tDoobster is pleased :suds:
