Pretty terrible effort by the entire team outside 5 minutes in the third period. Pouliot and Spaling were the only two who played a good game all around. Everyone else was garbage, especially the top 6.

Meh, was a snoozer. Can't sleep through two and hope to win. That said, man the reffing has to get better in this league. 1 PP in a game shouldn't happen unless that team never touches the puck, it certainly wasn't the case last night. Still riled up about the Perron thing that wasn't called.

Yeah, I feel asleep for a while in the third, literally.

I didn't think the reffing was too bad by this years standards, the game was fairly clean from obstruction. I don't remember the Perron play.

Ah, one of those that if that puck was there they probably call it. No idea why the NHL lets that type of interference go when the puck isn't there.

The officiating in this league anymore is a f'n joke. Read this quote from last night after the Wild/Caps game:

"It's sort of like trench warfare," Trotz said of playing the Wild. "You just have to take it inch-by-inch, and when you make a mistake, they're going to capitalize on it."

:L

Trench warfare? Why in the F is hockey turning back into the muck and grind, clutch and grab bullshit!?! I freakin' hate that kind of hockey.

I hated it 20 years ago when it began to rear its ugly head at the beginning of the mid 90's, and it appears that once again, the Lou Lamoriello style hockey is making a comeback. It is the most boring, unwatchable hockey you will ever see.

Agreed, and really the clutch and grab isn't so bad, neither is the trap, but when both are present at the same time, which has been for the last 20 years, it really kills any scoring.

On pace for the least penalties called per game since the the 67 expansion, last time I heard.

^^^ That is a link to league averages in the NHL for things like power-play opportunities, Goals per Game, Goals Against Average, etc.

In 2014-15 (this season), the league average of power-play opportunities per game is currently 3.12 per game. To find a season that comes close to that 3.12 average, you have to go all the way back to 1977-78, when the league average ended at 3.19 power-plays per game.

Fleury, Horny and Sid...the whole team...great effort and game to watch. Gotta say, Dustin Brown is still a shit hole.

I only watched the first period but they were playing good.

By the way, Baby Pens goalie set the record for longest consecutive shut out streak in the AHL. He has a GAA of 1.57 and a SP of .94. I'd like to see how he does in the NHL because I'm not thinking about him backing Fluery up, I'm thinking about him replacing Fluery.

The '12 draft might be one of the best for the Penguins in recent times.

As for goalie prospects not only do they have Murray you can't forget about Jarry. They might be in good shape when Fleury's time ends.

Hopefully they'll be able to transfer their game to the NHL. I've heard that it is a different rhythm or something. I know that Fluery did well in Wilkes-Barre the first couple years, but it took him a while to figure out things in the NHL.

That Kings game was brutal to watch. Amazing that the NHL lets the rules slip enough that a team like the Kings can win two Cups.

They got size, depth, & great goaltending tho. That goes a long way come playoff time.
