Dolphins 2020 Draft Class
I got the list from thephinsider.com

A few observations: The Fins will now have a big physical oline. FA Flowers fits that mold also. I was never a fan of finesse olines of years past. The Fins would get pushed around in games. I don't see that happening anymore.

DT Davis is not getting good reviews nationally but Flores & Grier know what they are doing. The team has to stop the run better and he is the key to that. Strowbridge also plays that style. Weaver will be a pass rush specialist but could be a very good one.

The Fins added Noah because they value CBs that can cover man to man. I foresee coverage sacks with the guys that they have on the roster combined with the FA additions including the OLBs. Adding Jones at Safety gives the team options with the veteran CBs on the roster.

Is Perry a Wes Welker type or more of a gimmick running QB/RB? Who knows? If the guy gets the ball in space he will be fun to watch.

I am partial to LSU guys and they need a good long snapper. I have know problem with Ferguson in the 6th round. He could be with the team for a long time if he's consistent. The Fins had plenty of picks in this draft.

Last but not least the team added Tua. He is a true franchise QB. He has championship level talennt.

A good LS can have the longest tenure on a team. His reliability is counted on. You could argue that he could have been picked later. However a 6th round pick isn't a major loss.

An interesting miscellaneous fact about Ferguson. He is the first LS in LSU s history to be chosen as a permanent team captain. He accomplished that 2 years. He is also an exemplary community service guy.

So, Fins can afford to have a roster spot for a long snapper?? I would hope he could do more, but maybe not, back up center maybe.

He's 230 lbs I doubt he can handle the Center spot. The Fins will have depth at Center with the other new additions. Ferguson won the David Binn Award for being the best LS in the nation.

On a different note: The Fins traded a 7th round pick this year for a 6th round pick next year. They have 9 picks in 2021.

Our LS from last year, Taybor Pepper, was released today.

Miami drafted for the future.
O-line should be a huge improvement. Might be very good.
Tua was the best QB available. Definite health risk though.
Lots of other players to improve long term.

How many wins this year?

Is this the year the Patriots do not win the division?

Hello Southie,

You have a few interesting points and questions.

The oline will have a new identity. They are big and physical. The Fins should be able to generate a running game along with better pass protecting. There is a learning curve with rookies but they will be progressively improving.

Tua is worth the risk and will have time to develop and learn how to throw incomplete passes when he needs to.

How many wins? The team got 5 last year with a lot less talent. All of the AFC East teams have tough schedules though. I am thinking 11 wins could be enough to take the division (maybe even 10 wins) Its anyone's guess on how many wins the Fins or Pats will get. I doubt the Pats have a better record than the Bills. The Fins will be in the mix this year and even better in future years.

Yep lot of young players and could be very little practice time. Tua may not even play a game this year and the oline while should be better may take more time to gel with all of the new faces. I'm not expecting anything crazy but they've shown in the past that Flores can get them to compete with less so who knows. If the Bills don't win the division they may never will. I predict that with the jets and Fins being a little better and the patsies falling off a bit the AFCE may only send the division winner to the playoffs. 9 or 10 wins may just do it but there are always some surprises along the way and this year is already set up to be insane if they play.

It's possible 9 or 10 wins takes the AFC East. Agreed on the Bills. They may never have a better chance to win the division. This year may also be Fitzpatrick's best chance to win a division in his career. He's the ideal QB to help the offense to develop. I am also interested to see Rosen play some in the preseason.

I'm hoping no praying that Rosen beats out Fitz. Hopefully he's learned a lot this past year and kicks ass. Then let him and Tua fight it out year after year would be a sight to see.

Flores seems to be the type of coach who plays his best players. He is very competitive and always wants his team to win. Rosen will get a chance to show how much he has improved and can continue to improve. Fitzpatrick will be tough to beat though out of his starter spot. He brought the best out of his skill players at a time of great adversity last year. He led them into Gillette as underdogs and they won.

I think Fitz' rapport with the players gives the team more of a chance to win especially early in the season. His veteran presence could also help the rookies. Some of them may start right away.

RE Tua: I am expecting him to play next year or late in the season this year. He is in ideal situation because the pass protection will be better by the time he starts plus the Fins should be able to generate more of a running game.

No slight to Fitz he was awesome especially under the circumstances but it would be better for the franchise if Rosen outright wins the job. Fitz would be a great backup and would still be a leader. Of course if Tua supplanted both either next year or after so be it let the best man win but having Rosen improve like that would be huge. It would not only create tremendous stability at QB but give Rosen more value if they decided to eventually trade him in the future. Personally I'd be happy to see him succeed.

Rosen just isn’t an NFL starter. He doesn’t process the game fast enough. Two teams have learned this lesson the hard way. It is what it is. Fitzy leads this team. I’ve been on the Tua train for over a year as you all know, but I’d prefer we don’t see him until late in the year if at all. Either Fitz leads us to a playoff birth or Tua gets a few starts at the end of the year when officially eliminated.

I can't give up on a young QB that quickly after all he had two horrendous olines and bad teams in general. I do agree that he didn't process info quickly enough but during these train wrecks do you blame him? Fitz had experience on his side but most rookies need a decent situation to succeed.

I don’t know man. Fitz, granted he has experience, looked light years ahead of Rosen and produced points and wins. Plenty of rookie QBs and perform in some manner with worse teams than the Dolphins last year. Rosen just looks absolutely lost, deer in headlights, at all times. IMO he is just not a gamer, it is what it is.

Remember Fitz was turfed early on in the season as he stunk too. The oline was horrible they couldn't run constant changeover didn't help. They threw Rosen in there but no one was surviving that. Perhaps they didn't want to ruin him which is smart so they went back to Fitz. The oline improved a little allowing Fitz to run the offense down the stretch. I'll give some credit to him as well but perhaps if they had left Rosen in who knows maybe he would have improved too. Hopefully we find out.
