But their is a catch: Any offer would be contingent on the A's not choosing to relocate to San Jose.

Oakland is going to lose the Warriors, Raiders, and possibly the A's in a 5 year time frame.

are there no northern suburbs?? and what became of the pier arena for the warriors?

The Bay Area is huge. A's can't or won't get a new stadium built. And Mark Davis is going to move the Raiders back to LA. Pretty sure about that.

The Warriors new arena is on schedule for a 2017 opening I believe.

3 teams that play in one condensed area in Oakland are all going away.

:L X 100

I still want that ballpark I could walk to after work, but it does not seem like the Giants, MLB, or any current lawsuit will make that happen in San Jose, which is a shame. They would be sooo much better supported, and would be in soo much of a better area to go to, that just makes me sad.

...and therein lies the rub. And why my posts are never an argument on anything being unfair. Expect for me. I WANT A YARD IN MY BACKYARD DAMIT!!!

That, and how the whole thing really would be better for everyone involved,......., except the Giants.

And that is issue. The Giants have spent 20 years cultivating that area. Silicon Valley was the primary reason AT&T was able to be built. If that is taken away from the Giants then they will become what the As are today.

I understand the "asshole-ness" of the situation. The As were good neighbors in '93 by surrendering the rights to the Giants so they could stay in the area. However, that was why they stayed and why they were able be successful. And the A's were not doing anything with the territory. It was just a block of coal. Now it is a diamond, and that is, at least in part, because of the work the Giants have done over the last 20 years.
