NEW YORK --(6/24)-- Dillon Gee's first rehab start is in the books.

Gee tossed two scoreless innings against the Gulf Coast League Marlins in Jupiter, Fla., on Tuesday afternoon. He allowed one hit and struck out two.

Gee had indicated this start would be short. He expects to make two more rehab appearances before rejoining the Mets. He likely will not have to wait five days to make his next rehab start, since this one was so short.

If the schedule holds, Gee should be ready to reenter the Mets rotation in about 18 days.

He landed on the disabled list on May 11 with a strained right lat.

Dillon Gee @DillonGee35 Follow Nothing like being out on the mound competing!! Good to be back in action!! Even better to feel great doing it! #DLsucks

NEW YORK -- The New York Mets created room for the return of catcher Travis d'Arnaud from Triple-A Las Vegas by placing fellow catcher Taylor Teagarden on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.

The move was convenient, in that it deferred a decision on whether Teagarden or Anthony Recker would have to be dropped from the roster.

Teagarden had been getting treatment for the issue. But when a team official was asked in Miami last weekend if Teagarden to the DL was an option, the person severely downplayed the possibility, noting Teagarden had been playing through an issue since Las Vegas, where he also was getting treatment.

Already playing like crap right out of the gate.....ughhh
I bet Capt. Kirk catches that Cespedes double/rbi if he were in CF today.
Murph looks at good pitches...questions their locaton...then K's on a ball in the dirt.
DW foul pops out.....EY who led off w/ a single gets caught stealing 2nd....(he stopped halfway between the bases for some reason) smh

1-0 A's, after 1.
