I am?
It's that time of year again and none of my teams made the playoffs - more time to devote to the pool this year. This will be the 5th year running this and I'm not sure who the past winners are, but whoever you are, a belated congrats. As usual, we'll try to get updates on a daily basis, but no promises. The scoring committee is busy updating her spreadsheets and they should be ready and error free by puck drop of the first playoff game.
I'm not sure about the prizes this year. I do have an unopened Ryan Smyth Kings bobblehead I can give the winner I guess. Anyways, on with the rules and setup of the pool.
All entries need to be posted to this thread by the puck drop of the first game - lets say 7pm EST on 4/11.
Rosters: Pick 3 C, 3 W (any combo of RW or LW), 3 D, and 2 G. Please don't try to bend the rules and pick a center that also may have wing eligibility in your fantasy league. Centers are centers and wingers are wingers - if there is some doubt, ask me, I'll make an executive decision.
Ok, on to the rules. All players will accumulate points. In past years there were no negative points. This year there are as noted below in the scoring categories. Here's the categories:
Goal 3 points
Assist 2 points
Game Winning Goal in Regulation 3 points
Game Winning Goal in OT 5 points
In addition to these, bonus points apply to:
Power play goal or assist 1 bonus point
Shorthanded goal or assist 3 bonus points
Hat trick 5 bonus points
Shot on Goal 0.25 points
Faceoff Won 0.10 points
Faceoff Lost -0.10 points
Hit 0.25 points
Shot Blocked 0.25 points
Takeaway 0.75 points
Giveaway -0.25 points
PIM's 0.10 points
+/- 0.50 points for pluses
+/- -0.50 points for minues
Goalies can accumulate any of the above points as well
Goalie stats
Save 0.10 points
Goal Against -1.00 points
Win 4 points
Shootout Win - infinity to the fourth divided by zero
Shutout 7 points
Another new addition to this year's edition - Shanabans. Any player who gets suspended will have -5.0 bonus points per game. A two game suspension will cost you 10 points and so on.
Tiebreakers
If teams are tied with the exact same rosters, they stay tied. Nothing to do to stop this from happening. Please try to choose an unique roster. If teams are tied with different rosters, the tie break is as follows:
1. Conn Smythe winner on roster
2. Game Winning Goals accumulated
3. Shutouts accumulated
4. best plus/minus overall
5. least PIM's
Best of luck to all participants and bring back McGeough!
