Well sure, but that's also only part of the story. How long do these guys last? You got teams now reluctant to even give a 2nd contract to high producing backs. You also need to see the production you can get from a mid round RB and see if that drop off is such that it justifies a top pick for just a little better output....for like 3 or 4 years. Meanwhile, you could take that top pick and grab a lineman that can play for 12 seasons.In 2015, 4 of the top 5 rushers were 1st round picks.
In 2014, 3 of the top 5 rushers were 1st round picks, another was a 2nd round pick.
In 2013, 3 of the top 5 rushers were 1st round picks, another was a 2nd round pick.
In 2012, 4 of the top 5 rushers were 1st round picks.
Not many backs go early any more. But the ones that do often end up being productive.
