Ref accountability is slowly being instituted with the reports that are going out now. Hopefully that will expand into penalties or mandated classes for refs.

I agree with ref accountability and transparency 100%

But I don't think Joey Crawford did anything wrong here. He actually did the right thing, IMO, making sure the scoreboard was showing accurate information so the players and coaches could act accordingly.

If he hadn't caught it, and then a team thinks they have a foul to give and use it, we'd still be here talking about how a team got screwed.

We're seriously going to go after a ref for icing a player? Seriously? Be mad at the scoreboard operator Crawford had to correct, if you want.

Durant missed the FT. I can't help but think of another player or two who would be getting no excuses made for him had he been in that position.

JC could have easily waited til after the FT and stopped play then even on a miss with much less consequence to the game.

Next the players should know how many fouls they have so I think the information being on the board is minimal compared to a game tying FT.

Those are both good points, and I agree there were better solutions.

I just think that there is huge gap between trying to get calls right, and worrying about "icing" someone when you're working with replays or scoreboard.

FT's have been interrupted countless times, replays have caused delays. I refuse to put "icing" on a ref. That's on the player.

Crawford has a history of taking attention from the game to him. Most NBA fans know who Joey Crawford is. His suspension after ejecting Duncan for laughing was only a year. Should have been a lifetime. Joey Crawford does not belong in the league.
