Pretty flawed.

Duke was #6 before losing to Wake Forest.

Arizona also has maybe slid one spot after losing 3 games in a row.

You guys sound a little bitter, you do know how the NET works, right? You have to win the early games in the season too and not just the ones lately against teams like Duke struggIing to win on your home court.

Which shows just how flawed the NET is. Its absolutely ludicrous not to penalize a team that loses 3 of it's last 4 games, all to unranked teams.

It would be the same penalty as if they had lost 3 of their first 4 games.

In related news KenPom has Duke rated #5 overall after losing 3 out the last 4 games, which got me thinking deciding power indexes by the metrics is complete bullshit

I really don't like the NET. I am not sure exactly how it works, but I haven't been impressed with it. Sometimes I think we overthink these rating systems. A system like Kenneth Massey's is straight forward. Solved with a system of equations and based on rock solid linear algebra and statistics theorems it has got to be one of the most predictive systems out there (He's a Stats professor and maybe the #1 guy in the world on using Statistics to rank sports teams). Vegas thinks so, go look at his predicted margin of victory right before Vegas posts their lines. Their lines are almost always in agreement with his picks. I teach Statistics and I use his website to demonstrate stuff all the time. Plus, I always fill out one NCAA bracket with "Massey Chalk" and always either win or come in second in my pool with that bracket.

Kenpom has told the NCAA not to use his ratings for seeding or selection. It's not designed to value what the committee claims to value.

The whole ranking system has always been ? to me. If it were up to me the rankings would be based upon win-loss ranking, point differential and quality of opponents.
