Again, I'd settle for one win. Hope I'm wrong again. No Holland.

This is from Scott Lucas' Rangers farm Report this morning.

Minor League Players of the Month (The first full month of the season, April 7 through May 6)

This is a mix of statistical performance, park and league factors, level, age relative to level, and prospect status. Don't read this as a pure statistical ranking or prospect ranking. It's highly subjective. I just want to recognize some folks.

Position Players
1. 2B Travis Demeritte, Age 21, High-A, .280/.370/.710, 10 HR, 20 extra-base hits, 4 SB, 11% BB rate
2. OF Ryan Cordell, 24, AA, .337/.382/.653, 6 HR, 17 extra-base hits
3. 3B Joey Gallo, 22, AAA, .254/.400/.652, 7 HR, 18% BB rate
4. 1B Ronald Guzman, 21, AA, .356/.426/.578, 4 HR, 11 extra-base hits
5. 2B Andy Ibanez, 23, Low-A, .371/.453/.607, 14 doubles, 2 HR, 5 SB, 12 % BB rate
6. OF Jared Hoying, 26, AAA, .276/.385/.520, 4 HR, 5 SB, 13% BB rate
7. OF Luke Tendler, 24, High-A, ,360/.425/.620, 4 HR, 16 extra-base hits

Starters

1. Yohander Mendez, High-A, Age 21, 24 IP, 1.88 ERA, 3.07 FIP, 10% BB, 36% SO
2. Pedro Payano, Age 21, Low-A, 27 IP, 1.00 ERA, 3.18 FIP, 13% BB, 26% SO
3. Erik Swanson, Age 22, Low-A, 26 IP, 1.03 ERA, 2.33 FIP, 6% BB, 26% SO
4. Luis Ortiz, Age 20, High-A, 20 IP, 3.15 ERA, 3.24 FIP, 4% BB, 28% SO
5. Ariel Jurado, Age 20, High-A, 24 IP, 4.81 ERA, 2.95 FIP, 6% BB, 18% SO
6. Connor Sadzeck, Age 24, AA, 34 IP, 2.60 ERA, 3.96 FIP, 11% BB, 22% SO
7. Victor Payano, Age 23, AA, 28 IP, 3.18 ERA, 4.07 FIP, 13% BB, 26% SO

Relievers
1. Matt Bush, Age 30, AA, 14 IP, 2.57 ERA, 3.29 FIP, 10% BB, 27% SO
2. Joe Palumbo, Age 21, Low-A, 17 IP, 2.65 ERA, 2.51 FIP, 9% BB, 37% SO
3. Jose Leclerc, Age 22, AA, 16 IP, 4.50 ERA, 2.72 FIP, 15% BB, 30% SO
4. Richelson Pena, Age 22, AA, 10 IP, 0.00 ERA, 1.99 FIP, 8% BB, 30% SO
5. Ryan Ledbetter, Age 24, High-A, 10 IP, 0.87 ERA, 1.81 FIP, 7% BB, 34% SO
6. Joe Filomeno, Age 23, High-A, 10 IP, 0.87 ERA, 2.50 FIP, 12% BB, 35% SO
7. Ryne Slack, Age 23, AA, 13 IP, 0.00 ERA, 3.90 FIP, 20% BB, 22% SO

I almost accidentally omitted Bush. The subjective age adjustment I add to my spreadsheet pushes him down to around 20th among the farm's relievers, and I didn't see him. Your typical 30-year-old AA reliever isn't much of a prospect. In his case, I think we can ignore his age.

Ramos to pitch the 3rd game. Sounds like suicide to me. Where's Chi Chi?

No Hamels either then. Kinda why I wasn't too hopeful for this series. Gonna rely on our offense a bit.

Rangers' Cole Hamels: Records nine strikeouts and no walks in no-decision against White Sox
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cole Hamels (4-0) allowed five runs (three earned) on nine hits over 5.2 innings, but also struck out nine and walked none in a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday.

His own error cost him a run in the third and an Adrian Beltre error in the sixth led to another run. The three earned runs against Hamels were off two homers. Judging by those numbers, Hamels was off his game, but his nine strikeouts and no walks says otherwise. He threw 70 strikes, 18 of which were swing-and-misses, in 111 pitches. Hamels will make his next start Tuesday against Oakland.

Rangers' Derek Holland: Start pushed back to Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Derek Holland will make his next scheduled start Monday against the A's, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Holland would have been on schedule to take the hill Sunday, but the Texas Rangers will push him back a day so that he won't have to face the Blue Jays over the weekend. The 29-year-old righty has only managed to go five innings over his last two starts, allowing 15 earned runs in that span while only notching two strikeouts.

Rangers' A.J. Griffin: MRI reveals no structural damage
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

An MRI on A.J. Griffin 's shoulder revealed no structural damage, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. He will be able to resume throwing once the soreness in his throwing shoulder subsides.

This comes as a big relief for Griffin given that shoulder injuries are especially concerning for pitchers. Fortunately, there is no structural damage in his shoulder, so he appears to be clear of needing any sort of procedure. There's still no timeline for his impending return, but once he resumes throwing, a potential return date should come into focus.

Good idea. His last two starts against the Bluejays have been terrible.

Hope we can move some of these pitchers up from A ball soon. AAA is non existent and AA with a few intriguing names.

Just think, he won't be 22 until after the season is over. Maybe it's all coming together for him and by 2017/18 we may see in Arlington.

Oh, and thanks for posting these stats.

I wasn't familiar with Ryne Slack at Frisco. Nice line on him.
