Can't wait til we play some nonplayoff teams. Texas, Houston, and Minnesota coming up after this series.

We still need a closer... The Rodney experiment is gonna end eventually....

He threw everything around the plate, the only thing he throws over gets hammered lately.

Rodney is getting eating alive ... It's like batting practice... And then to make it worse he walks winning runs into scoring position.... If we continue this experiment expect a lot of losses from Rodney ... You can only punch your teams moral so many times before it starts too implode... If he blows another save it's time to replace him as our closer.... He's just not fooling hitter... His ERA must be around 16.00 now....

You know the guy he walked is hitting about .500 right now right? I don't blame him 1 bit for being careful with Agon. Guys before him hit good pitches the other way for hits. Nobody gets Kendrick out so pick your poison.

When all you can throw is a fast ball or a change up it becomes a 50/50 guessing game. He isn't fooling anyone.

You never want to put the winning run in scoring position ... You have to attack there ... .500 is just because it's early season.... You gotta be the one too cool him off... That's the attitude you gotta have as a closer...

Was Zunino hurt? I changed the channel but he was holding his hand like he jabbed a finger or something.

Closers usually have 2 pitches. I get that it's emotional losing like that but come on, don't just make things up to bash Rodney. Trevor Hoffmann threw fastball/changeup and is one of the greatest closers of all time.

That blown save maybe more costly than we think. Zunino seemed to hurt his hand or wrist.

Rodneys problem is he has no control but somehow its worked for him, that some problem just kills us sometimes too.

Just a change and a fast ball is way to easy to sit on ... You gotta mix in something else.... Slider, cutter, 2 seam 4 seam... Keep hitters guessing...

Just a fast ball change up though is easier to adjust too as a hitter... That other dude you mentioned probably just had NASTY stuff .. Rodney is basically all fast balls, Why not learn a cutter, or slider... Just keep hitters off balance a bit... They have the tape on this guy and he's just not fooling hitters... I"m telling you this is gonna end up as a serious headache if the M's ride this out for a long time... Unless Rodney works on his stuff and brings more to his arsenal .... He's had a decent career but he's not as young as he used to be so maybe he's lost it a bit.... He needs to call up Moyer and learn some crafty pitches.... He's 38 years old now and he's not what he was ...

Let's just relax a little... The expectations this year may get people up in arms but Rodney isn't exactly an April type closer. Last season he has an ERA near 4 and opponents with an .810 OPS against him. His worst month has historically been in April.

It's a cause for concern with him but let's not declare the experiment over. Yes, we missed the playoffs by one game last year and we can't afford to piss away games this year but it happens.

Hoffman had a killer change up, but also threw the slider and fastball; let alone the occasional curve. Hence, goat. Rodney throws fast or not as fast with sporadic control. This isn't new, he gave heart attacks all year last year. The difference this year is he doesn't look good at all, but there's still time. I will say this though, eight games in and I feel like it's the playoffs. It's gonna be a long season whether we are winning or losing.

Uugh, I wish Maurer wasn't traded and if this keeps up I hope Carson Smith takes over 9th inning duties. Rodney just can't get out of an inning unscathed. I get it, closers blow games from time to time, but a 3.65 career ERA / 1.36 WHIP pitcher over 12 seasons is not who I want pitching in the 9th inning in a close game.

I don't think Rodney was horrible today. He made some good pitches that got hit by good hitters. It's ok to admit the dodgers are a good team. The hit by Turner has a grounder through a hole on pitch on the corner. Rollins flipped a good fastball into to center, he got squeezed on a couple pitches to A Gon and lost om a busted bat single. Some times the BABIP gods aren't with you, major difference from Sunday when everything he threw was up.

Kuma has to be better. if the starters can't give us 6 strong innings we are in a major trouble.

Regardless win today and you still start 4-5 against a brutal opening schedule

Road game, tough loss, against a very good team.

Angels/As/Dodgers with 2 series away is a rough way to start the season. Seattle will catch their groove... Walker isn't going to throw for a 27 ERA all year, Iwakuma is coming off an injured season, and Cano wont be hitting sub .200 all year. Seattle should be fine. If we can hold off the Dodgers from a sweep and win the next 3 series against easier opponents, we're back to leading the West probably.

Rodney will get more chances, but he's putting himself on a shorter and shorter leash....
