I like it. Zach Lee doesn't have great minor league numbers but pitching depth is a must for us right now. Taylor didn't have a future with Seattle, I think its a good move.

Nope. I like the deal. Lee lost velocity but if he can get it back he could be a good #4.

From Baseball America after the trade:

The Dodgers gave Lee a then-franchise record $5.25 million bonus to pass on playing quarterback at LSU and turn pro. But while he’s twice won the organization’s pitcher of the year award, his fringy stuff makes him hittable, especially when he catches too much of plate. Lee has terrific command of a cutter, changeup and sinker, but he lacks a plus pitch. His success depends on being fine and changing batters’ eye levels. He’s expected to go to Triple-A Tacoma, where he’ll be rotation depth for a Mariners’ team that has Felix Hernandez and Wade Miley on the disabled list.

One evaluator who’s seen Lee says he expects the Texas prep product can still contribute at the major league level, calling him a sum-of-his-parts pitcher.

Doesn't really even matter who Zach Lee is. Taylor was a nothing here and had no future. Omalley and Sardinas getting playing over him tells you how this organization viewed him.

It works they can shed him and get a guy who provides depth at a position that needs it right now. Don't know anything about Lee but maybe he starts Friday given Walkers situation

Good point, and really a guy that was in a similar boat with the Dodgers as Taylor was with us, an unlikely future. We basically just swapped a position for a different position...

This is depth, the M's are very thin at SP. We knew this going into the spring training.
