Starting the thread early to report Cam Wake is expected to be out 2-3 weeks, but we have a very capable backup in Randy Starks , who was not playing much prior to this, so this will be good for us.
ummmmm...Wake is a DE, Starks a DT. Starks started last week for Soliai, who was out with an injury. Starks had been in a balanced 3 way rotation with Odrick and Soliai prior. So he was playing a good amount. Wake's replacement will most likely be Derrick Shelby. Shelby and Dion Jordan will see an increase in snaps.
Yep that's correct Eville. The door was opened up for Jordan and he played well so has Shelby. Either way if this is true it sucks I've heard he's day to day though. I'm actually more concerned about CB what's with all the groin problems are they not stretching?
You are correct, Wake is a DE while Starks is a DT, but as we have seen in recent weeks - Starks has not played regularly, seems that when he has been it has been in packages where Cam Wake hasn't been on and I guess that caused me confusion... My bad.
Pressure on Brees will be important in this game. Jordan is getting better every week so I think he'll make plays & Shelby is a solid player. I think a big factor also will be the Fins running game. The Saints are 4th in the league vs the Pass & 20th vs the run. This would be a great week for L Miller & Thomas to have breakout games. Both of these teams are scoring about 24 points a game. The Fins have 2 road wins already so that experience could help. The Fins beat Indy on the road so I think they have a good chance.
Giving up too much space that leads to big plays continues to be a problem... this will be a blowout if that continues. We are too slow in tackling and we miss on getting a guy done far too often
Also worth noting, I know im beating a dead-horse, but - It is worth noting we again won the toss but differed... Hasnt had a significant impact on a full game yet but this is not the game to do that in. New Orleans already up 7
Something told me this drive would be stalled if they switched over to Thomas in a situation like this... Its not a knock on him... But would have pref. a QB sneak or a hand off to the FB... Thomas doesnt seem to do so great in those situations especially in the RZ
