There aren't any first basemen worth trading for. The only way the Pirates could improve would be to get a legit elite bat, but no team is going to trade a first basemen of that caliber.

is there a team with a good 1B then a blocked 1B prospect worth throwing a couple people at.

also, lost in the trade, and J-Hay's magic is the fact that cumpton came up with another really good and efficient game with only one 3 batter sequence that hurt.

worley, cumpton, and locke are really shining. if we can just get cole moving and volquez just maintains, that will give us 3 #2's and 2 #3's the way they are pitching. morton either gives us a 1 or a 4.5 when he throws.

Not sure. I haven't caught much of the game, but the few batters I saw, it looked like he was just a bit off with location. Velocity and movement look fine, though, which is encouraging. I think he just needs to find the feel again.

He got behind a few times by just missing the zone, which was the bigger thing.

In the fourth, they really did look like they knew what was coming, though, turning around 97 mph fastballs in 1-2 counts and the like.

The strike three call on Marte was absolutely brutal, and it might have gotten Niese out of the inning.

Generous strike two call on Polanco didn't help, either.

Stewart's having some trouble with his throws today. This is the first one he had any kind of chance on, the rest were taken on Cole, but he's got to get those throws down.

With the way things look in the NL, a wildcard coming out of the central doesnt seem likely.
