So what was the most "spectacular" part of Connor McDavid's debut? Was it that he was barely visible on the ice? Was it his whopping 2 shot attempts? Was it his 23% proficiency in the faceoff circle? Should we credit him for his fellow teenage buddy rookie Robby Fabbri's game winning goal?

That stupid "if" preceding the "not spectacular" changes the meaning of the headline. The headline doesn't even fit Rosen's article, it's just asinine click bait.

Man, he is fast out there though and his edge work on his skates is excellent. A lot of guys can skate fast in a straight line, but get bogged down when trying to make sharp cuts and changing direction (see Draisaitl, Leon).

I think the problem is there are two ways to read this:

1) Impressive, maybe even spectacular!

-or-

2) Impressive, but not spectacular.

RP clearly read it as the former, but I think the tone the writer was going for was the latter.

Dan Rosen used the wrong conjunction in his article title if he meant the latter. Poor journalism either way.
