when he found out, he probably had the same DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH look on his face that he had all night, every night in the dugout.

With Leyland out of baseball he will have a tough time finding his next job.

Pretty sure that was LMC's last shot at being a skipper.

Who knows, though?

The people of Boston should be very scared. Dombrowski loves to keep loyal guys close. I could see him being a base coach or dugout coach while he waits for the current manager to fail.

As expected. Best of luck to McClendon.

I just saw this chart on ESPN and in the history of the M's.. only Lou Piniella and Lloyd McClendon have a winning record for the Mariners.

You could see it coming, Lloyd just doesn't fit this new system at all.

Bogar seems to be the front runner for the next managerial position. He was in the same system with Dipoto. Led the Rangers to a 14-8 record last season after Ron Washington stepped down.

Definitely the right thing to do at this time... Starting fresh, with a clean sheet of slate is what we're needing to do because our depth, future, has been picked thru and lacks promise... This team isn't ready to win now imo...

See that's the problem with what Jack Z did with the roster. He added the kind of guys you would add if you are ready to contend yet didn't complete the roster so it could contend. If you are going to spend boat loads on Cruz, Felix and Cano you cannot go into a season with the rotation the we had especially when the options were there to improve, you cannot go into the season with multiple platoons at several positions, you cannot sign a guy like Rickie Weeks and severely restrict the roster flexibility.

Personally I think this team is closer to winning than it may appear but there are holes and the right moves still need to happen. Jack Z just didn't have a fucking clue how to build a roster.

The biggest factor in a winning formula for Dipoto will be finding the right manager that he feels fit and stick with the guy. By that I mean find a manager that's going to be stick around 4-5-6 years down the road and allow the team to build some consistencies. One of the main reasons why the M's struggled over the last decade is not only because they failed to put the talents out there but it's also the inconsistencies at the managerial position. This was the biggest failure in the Bavasi and Zduriencik tenures.

I agree that this team is very close to winning and it's why you have guys like Felix and Cano who isn't exactly thrilled by McClendon's departure. Maybe he does deserve at least one year under Dipoto.
