Bringing out the broom for a possible first real sweep today? Righty Berrios might pose a bit of a prob if our offense isn't spot on today. He 5/4, an 3.82 ERA and a low WHIP of .92. We'll miss Segura today- the Z man with a W walk off bomb last night not in the line up today? It's the lefty/right stuff striking again which I think it overplayed way too much. Might see Z if we get to Berrios and a lefty comes in for relief. Go M's and sweep the twins right outa town. :thumb:

Not a fan of DFA'ing Motter over Romine.

Both suck. Romine has no business being on the team and Motter can't hit his way out of Tacoma. Where is Mark McLemore when you need him?

Motter is sucking in Tacoma, but his entire time in Seattle says he can at least get hot and contribute every now and then. Romine is an automatic out.

I am with you on Romine because he is a joke, but I lost faith in Motter around May last year.

10-3 post Cano.

.500 ball the rest of the way is 87 wins. Starting fast is something new and foreign but it does matter.

Lucky maybe. If they can 2016 Rangers there way into a playoff berth sign me up

I mean yeah I guess you can consider the amount of one run wins lucky, but on the other hand with all the injuries I think you can say the M's have been incredibly unlucky. So it kind of cancels out.

Edit: I know the Pythagorean formula is usually pretty good for determining wins and losses in MLB, but it's just another formula it's not the be all end all. As you mentioned Texas won a ton of 1 run games in 2016 and we said all year there was no way they would keep doing it all year but they did. I think in 2007 too the Diamondbacks won 90 games and the NL West with a negative run differential. So yeah while you want to score more runs than you give up and these things do typically even out over the course of a season there are always outliers and nothing is impossible.

Utility guys I would love to see them go after now and cut Romine:

1- Scooter Gennett .337/10 HR/36 RBI plays 2B/3B/LF
2- Asdrubal Cabrera .314/7 HR/29 RBI plays 2B/3B/SS
3- Yangervis Solarte .267/11 HR/32 RBI plays 2B/3B/SS
4- Whit Merrifield .288/4 HR/21 RBI plays 2B/LF/CF
5- Miguel Rojas .257/7 HR/23 RBI plays 1B/3B/SS
6- Yolmer Sanchez .272/2 HR/22 RBI plays 2B/3B/LF

By utility player I mean like McLemore and give him daily AB's at different positions. Merrifield would be my first option because of his steady hitting, base stealing, and plays positions we could use him at the most. Would KC trade him for anything we have? Offer a deal with Gamel and Vogelbach and see if they laugh.

Cabrera would be second option for me because he is a veteran and would fit the position and would probably cost the least of the top 3.

Scooter would be my third choice and I think Reds would trade him, but again do we have what they would want?

This would give us great stability on the roster with glove guys who can actually hit. Of course with Merrifield and Scooter we would still need a valid backup at SS which might squeeze the roster.

I'm not saying I'd want him in the lineup except maybe once a week. But he is just as good defensively and if I had a choice between the two for any AB I'd choose Motter.
